So, it just dawned on me recently that I don't watch much anime. I started thinking back to when Toonami was good, thinking about shows that were on then. Gundam still holds up. Outlaw Star is in my top 3. But then I remembered some anime from other networks that I just can't get in to any more.
Specifically, Cardcaptors (Or Card Captor Sakura, for you Japanese purists). I remember watching and absolutely loving the show when I was six or seven. I recently tried to go and watch the Japanese dub for it and just couldn't get back into it. Maybe it's because I remember the English dub, and I don't like reading subtitles unless I have to, but I just could not keep my self watching it.
So, here's the topic; Anime that you watched when you were younger. Post about anime series that you enjoyed when you were younger, and give some thoughts on whether or not it still stands up.

Card captors is one of the ones that i remember when i was younger but i do remember more. If you remember during that time Escaflowne was showing as well. but i remember way back when when i was in elementary school that they usd to show the old dragon ball series like super early in the morning like at 530am. also, they used to show Ronnen Warriors as well. Im not to sure if alot of yall remember waking up early as hell to see them but they were there. Though at taht age i didnt even realize it was anime that i was watching

I remember watching Gundam Wing, Escaflowne and DBZ back when I was a kid. I loved all of them but I didn't finish Escaflowne.

I remember watching Cardcaptors and Escaflowne too. I got to finish watching Escaflowne because a friend had the DVDs, but I never got to see all of Cardcaptors.
The main anime I remember from when I was younger is Digimon. I really did love that show. Personally, I thought Season 3, Digimon Tamers was the best. Actually, I just got done re-watching it on Youtube and I still love it. The last like 20 or so episodes of Tamers was awesome.

Oh, Digimon! I loved that too. Still do. But when Tamers came out, I wanted to shoot the writers, because I thought it defaced what Digimon was. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

From my Childhood I can remember animes like Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, but mostly Dragon Ball Z because I was obsessed with it back then. Actually I still love Dragon Ball Z.
Outlaw Star was my favorite anime as a kid, it was beautiful and made me want to explore space. I constantly jumped into my closet and pretended I was flying a ship. Good times.
I read the Card Captor Sakura manga before I ever saw the show. I heard it was on television and tried to watch an episode, but I was so flabbergasted when I noticed they changed the names. .. after reading the entire manga, I couldn't get into the English dub with name changes. It was just too much for me. =( I watched the show in Japanese later on, it stayed pretty true to the manga, and it is still one of my top-tens. =)
I was very obsessed with Cowboy Bebop when I was younger. Hell, I still am. I know all the episode names and numbers by heart, in order. I know most of the dialog by heart *English, btw, I actually enjoy the English dub better.* and I have the box set OST collection. I know when each song plays in each episode. =x *Sigh* It is my number one, I've seen the series 3 times straight through, and yes, I still cry.
Sailor Moon was definitely the dominant anime in my life as a child. Back then I didn't realize all the changes they had made to the original series although I was able to see some in Japanese. I came back to it as an adult and watched it through again (all 5 seasons + movies) and it's still fantastic and watchable in my opinion. Definitely better in the unedited Japanese where Haruka and Michiru aren't "cousins" and I do enjoy the Japanese voices more.
First anime that sort of introduced me to anime was Tenchi Muyo! which I really did enjoy despite it being a harem anime. The movies and OVAs I especially enjoyed and still like watching it nowadays too. Tenchi got me into other anime like Evangelion and Kenshin, which are probably my top two favorite.
The only anime I watched as a kid and can't seem to get back into is DBZ. I don't think it's a bad anime or anything and I watched it all the time, but can't seem to get into it like I was before although I wasn't the hugest fan back then either.
DBZ, Outlaw Star, Pokemon, Digimon, and Gundam Wing are the ones I recall the most. The only ones I’ve watched recently were DBZ and Pokemon and they are still just as good as they were back then. I imagine I wouldn’t be disappointed by GW or Digimon either. Outlaw Star I can’t really remember too much of besides a girl in a suitcase or box.
