Perhaps this could be some sort of precursor to the Rage Virus from 28 Days Later? One can only hope... D: Joking aside I agree we shouldn't be too worried at this point and just take the precautions given such as avoiding people who are coughing and washing your hands so this does not turn into something more serious. Its not gona help at all, these small precautions never help. you know what our secretary of defense said when we were close to having a Chemical attack (back in the day), "make sure you have duct tape, and lots of water" thats right, cuz u know duct tape can fix anything Now I want to make a picture with someone holding down a zombie trying to duct tape it's mouth ::EDIT::

I am hoping it is being blown out of proportion by the media, in the same way the likes of SARS and and Bird Flu were kind of heralded as some kind of probable Apocalypse. As for the cases in england the girl was 12 and goes to basically the same school as my brother (the school is kind of divided in two, with the upper year groups going to the other half so they don't actually interact. She is in the lower half). Anyway, they closed both sides down for 11 days from what my brother cheerfully announced. Hopefully it won't really spread from there, last I heard she is doing okay. It is kind of peculiar seeing so much news and things on TV about something that is basically a short walk away from me. Usually things of note are much farther afield than that hehe

Bah, it's not like this is the first time this has happened. There have been far worse epidemics that killed millions of people world wide. I really don't think we have to worry. As long as you take care of yourself and take precautions, you'll be fine. Although I hope this passes by the time PortCon comes around. :/

Although I hope this passes by the time PortCon comes around. :/ That's my main worry, that it'll be canceled due to this :\

Hopefully it won't Grey. Although it was released today that the first case just hit Maine at around noon. I pray that they can get it under control....and that I don't get infected. :/

Eh this is getting blown a bit out of porportion already. it hasnt even killed 300 people yet they call it a pandemic. When it kills thousands more then AIDS and Cancer I will be spooked out. I shower daily, wash my hands and all that jazz. In New York only 1 person has it in my town. Its mostly about cleandliness. Just stay clean and wash your hands.

Basically, here is the deal: Just like regular Flu, it has the same symptoms and is passed around in exactly the same way, though it is more severe. If you feel like you're getting sick, go to a doctor, get a vaccine, and you'll be fine.
DON'T sit around and wait for it to go away like you do with a normal flu. Just go get the shot and you'll be fine. If you DON'T treat it, there is a chance of death, just like there is with a normal flu, just happens more often. Just go get the shot if you get sick. Pretty much end of story. Like any flu, it will get passed around really fast. As long as everyone is aware, all you gotta do it get a shot and you'll be fine. so DO IT. Don't be stupid or lazy.
*Sorry for being repetitive, but you know someone is going to push it off and then lo and behold end up dead wondering wtf why did that happen.*

Yeah, Oreo is totally right. It's not the biggest thing to be worried about. All you have to do take the right precautions. The only reason people have been dying is because they're either elderly, or they're living conditions are bad and they never got the shot.

Don't be stupid or lazy. *Sorry for being repetitive, but you know someone is going to push it off and then lo and behold end up dead wondering wtf why did that happen.* Deaths happen more often because this is a new strand of the virus, and we don't know much about it. The government has released an anti-viral chemical to all the states, just in case of an outbreak. However, that doesn't mean it'll stop the virus. There is no magical cure for a virus, just a way to stop it from spreading. And since you cannot kill a virus, since they're not even alive, it is a bit difficult to stop. As for Darknezz's link, that's ignoring the facts. Considering how fast it's spreading, there is something to worry about. Just because more people die in a car crash doesn't mean that Swine Flu can't become an epidemic. The reason why people are making a big deal out of it is because it is spreading very quickly. And not only is it spreading quickly, it's also incurable, the patients don't die from Swine Flu, they die from something like pneumonia, since it attacks the respiratory system. Although the deaths are possibly only do to the lateness of medical attention, it's still deadly. Oh, and it's also on almost every continent. I'm sure the media exaggerates and uses scary words, so I don't think we should be as worried as the media says we should be, but we should be thoughtful of it.

But I doubt it'll spread to the scandinavia if you fear that. Alright, so it hit Finland. Just my luck :/
