What do you guys think of the "First Person Shooter craze" that has been going on in consoles lately? Do you ever miss the old Platformers on the NES/SNES/Genesis?

1st question: One thing me and my friends talked about with First Person Shooters is the storylines and the role they play in them. Do you think that the stories in FPS's are a nice addition to the genre, or do you think they were just tacked on to appeal to gamers who are REAL big on stories in games?

(First game that I can recall with story: System Shock 2...man that scared the crap outta me)

2nd question: After avoiding it for at least 3 1/2 editions, I found myself playing DnD (Dungeons and Dragons) 4th edition at the tail end of last year with a few friends. Do any of ya'll play DnD and if so, what's one crazy thing you can recall from a campaign (could be a battle, how your character handles social situations, etc.)? If any of ya'll don't play it, what are your thoughts about it as a whole?
