When I wanted to create a gametag the gamertag AndroidMike was taken and it suggested androidmace so I just when with it. I use this user name with email and some social networks as well.

Back when I first started playing Second Life in 2005 I decided my name was going to be Wednesday (up until then I had been Burrito Bandito).
For SL name creation goes your first name is whatever you type in, and then choose from a list (there are thousands, but you get around 250 at random) of surnames.
The name I came up with and still use was Wednesday Rejected.
Ta-da.

I made my name because my older brother used to call me cdog, I just remembered that one day while making an account on something, and it just stuck with me

I just happened to be listening to a song from the Stevie Nicks album Bella Donna and always liked the name. Plus she's one of my favorite female singers.

Originally, it was to be "The Great", but that wouldn't fit on the Xbox Live gamertag. I decided to emulate the movie version of A Clockwork Orange (Alex DeLarge) and came up with DeGreat.

To answer the thread question, used invented name for other reasons. Now for the story.
I was making a US account for PSN so I could access the US Store. After adding the required illegal information (Y'know, the normal process) I just needed to come up with a name. So out of the blue thecosmicfly was made. The same situation happened when joining jtv last year. Wanted to chat, needed a random name, reused the fake account. I've never been good or consistent when it comes to handles. It's taken me 8 names and a dozen forums and online services to come up with one I actually like. -_-

Hey, i'm new in the forums and I think this is a good post to introduce myself!
"Irade" is a turkish word, it means 'will' (which is, besides, my name). I wish I could explain the philosophical content in it (my english sucks as you can see), but since it's something kind of personal and you probably don't care I'll skip that part.
I'm from Barcelona, so it's sometimes frustrating to watch the show from here, not being able to join any activities or whatever goes on in here. But well, I know there's a lot of european people around, so it's okay I guess.

I picked my name because "lumpia" is one of my favorite filipino foods and I'm filipino. I wanted to show my pride in my heritage in a different way. Plus, a lot of non-filipinos know what "lumpia" is (for those who don't, its like a filipino egg roll), so its a way for me to show where I come from but in a not-so-obvious way.

I got my first name, nash12 using my surname and age....
Second name, kamov13 is when i was playing a game called ArmA. I used to fly around in KA-50's alot (Kamov 50) and i usually heard teammates say something about the Kamov's....plus on XBL all the names i tried were taken so i just thought about the Kamov's and then i got my age and combined the two to make an awesome name known as Kamov13.

My username is my nickname.
I actually have a full alias name "Psy Zim Fi".
My friend from way back was named Ryan but we called him Ry, and one day (since everyone thinks I'm a psycho) he called me Psy.
Then a couple years ago a friend of my mine was introducing me to another guy and the guy goes "Psy as in like sci-fi?"
So I added Fi.
Then about 6 months back my friend was comparing her friends to characters from Invader Zim...aaaand I'm Zim.
So thusly, I became Psy Zim Fi.
I'll probably change my real name in the future, I don't like it.
Change it over to my alias.
Most people call me Psy or Zim.
