Communism: Evil or just misunderstood?

TL;DR

Okay well as you just pointed out in your argument, not all Communism was God awful, admittedly none was very good, but as you said it was Stalins Communism which was evil and caused the great purges, and they were a result of Stalins own desire for power not communism, allowing him to maintain a dictatorial type hold over the country.

But as you also mentioned Vladimir Lenin his predecessar was a great intellectual and desired equality throughout the country.

I think when people think, oh Communism bad they latch on to the thought Stalin as the Poster child for it. may i also remind you that a lot of people had there life improved after the harsh fascist reign of the Tsars.

Now I am not saying I like communism, I don't, but simply put it is not evil, it just doesn't work

I just want to reinforce my beleif that it is the corrupt/evil leadership which makes communism not work that is its downfall. 1984 and Animal farm are examples of this.

In Communism Don't All People Recieve the same wages?
If so:
A person who worked hard all their life to become a doctor lets say.
This person would recieve the same wages as a cleaner?

I dunno if my argument is flawed , which it might be , but i wanted to get that off my chest.

Communism just can't work. Hell when communism was in power the only things that benefited the country were capitalist actions IE Lenin's New Economic Policy. Its just too much to change too soon. Too idealistic also.
