Christianity only survived because people were born into it, and back then they'd shun you the f**k out if you didn't believe in it Yes, when the whole witchcraft deal aroused. Sure there were some radicals back then, but even today we have that in other religions. Anyway, Christianity survived through the bible and other written accounts by other people. Christianity couldn't spread around the world over night, some one had to translate it into the vernacular like the most read translation by King James I of England. There are tons and tons of different translations of the Bible and Christianity survived through its context. People were not originally born into it either, but it has been true today since it started to spread just like almost any family tradition. The earlier Anglo-Saxons were actually pagans and it wasn't until Saint Augustine that was sent to England that they finally converted them to Christianity. but, but but, you have to have faith!how can you have faith with evidence and proof? You missed my point. Because that example was created in the past few years out of nowhere and we live in such a time period where we need physical evidence for everything, we need such proof to whatever religion that someone comes up with out of someone's "a-hole." (forum censorship) Just like no one is going to believe in UFOs without seeing them in person unless they outright show a picture that provides evidence. People will be skeptics to the evidence as well. (Not saying I believe in them or not, just an example.) In our contemporary time period, almost everything is documented or recorded in some shape, way, or form--that is why the spghetti monster is ridiculous because it has no backing to it and it only sprung up to prove the point that anyone can make a religion (which is obvious). so the only thing religion has got going for it is how long it's lasted? y'know people used to think spitting on wounds would heal them too? No, but it shows its credibility and durability, which I think are pretty important if one is to believe or take trust in anything for that matter. That's why I think it's important to look at the history. And yes people use to think people that touched their wounds would heal them like the most popular King Edward the Confessor of England.

If you don't mind going in circles on a discussion thread then it's fine by me. That's kinda where azn, travis and a couple other people ended up with me on this subject.

Personally, I say the whole argument is useless. You're never going to know, so there can never be a right answer. That's where the faith comes in I guess.
Sure, I believe in a God and all that, but I don't know about there being a heaven/hell type of God who wants us to do things his way. The way I see it, God made the universe and left it alone. No need to meddle, just let it flow as it must. I don't even think it's a single being. I guess I lean towards that stuff they talk about where God is more of an entity, or the collection of life in the universe or whatever everybody else calls it.
There's no need to worship God I believe. I don't mean just say **** him and ignore the stuff. I'm saying that there's no need to go to church and pray and ritualize. I think just the act of living is a good enough tribute to him. If he made you, he'll enjoy seeing where you go.

But you can still argue if you wanna. No one is forcing anyone to read this thread. Simple as that.

But you can still argue if you wanna. No one is forcing anyone to read this thread. Simple as that. Yeah. You could even say that it's a good thing that people debate it so often. It allows us to look at ourselves when we usually wouldn't. I just meant that some people get a bit too passionate about it.
