So I got around 500 dollars..

So I managed to get 500 dollars to spend on a video game console for college next year. I've never owned a next-gen console and the only gaming station I own is a pretty old PC with a nVidia 5200 video card. I was thinking on buying an xbox 360 value thingy. And I was wondering what games you people would advise me on buying. I was considering GTA4 since I see alot of people playing it, but if any of you advise something with more replay-value etc tell me about it please.

If replay value is what your after then be sure you pick up some games with heavy multiplayer. GTA4 is a good choice, also Call of duty 4. And The orange box, cause since there is no single player in TeamFortress 2 everyone is gonna have to be online.

But all this still depends on what type of games you like, I suggest renting before you buy. Or going into gamestop and trying there try is used for 7 days thing.

depends on what you like. I like a variety so i usually get the games that are good in its respective genre. Say gt5 for racing or pgr4 on 360. Make sure you get halo and gears though. Get gta if you dont think youll get bored of it, and then whether you do or dont think youll be bored, rent it.

Renting some games first might be a good plan. I'll start off with GTA4 because I'm a fan of the previous series. Thanks for the responses guys.

Gta 4 would be nice, but I think Halo3 would be nice because you could play for hours with friends.

halo 3 has a lot of multiplayer value, bioshock, half life 2 and lost planet are single player experiences i can go trough again and again. add in the crackdown multiplayer adn thats petty good too but somewhat limited.
