Possible minor spoilers in this thread... Resident Evil - Shut up and let me explain. I was FAR too young to be playing this game when it first came out. I got it for Christmas at age 8 or 9. I played it that night at midnight in the complete dark. To this day, despite the fact that the game isn't scary at all, I'm still psychologically conditioned to twitch whenever the 2 dogs crash through the hallway windows early in the game. F.E.A.R. - Overall more creepy than scary, but I FREAKED out when my character turned to go down a ladder and BAM, there's creepy little Alma right in my face. Then I regroup and go down the ladder, turn, and BAM there's Fettel right up in my face. Awful.. Condemned 2 - Just played through the mission where you are in the MRI machine at SCU. I was spooked the whole time from all the creepy effects

I was the same way with Resident Evil. To be honest I have a fear of zombies now from that game. >.<

Fear Effect. I was 9 when I watched my older brothers play that and it's sequel on PS1...

Silent Hill 1 creeped the hell out of me, especially the school environment. It was so dark and you just barely make out these little demon children walking around ahead of you. Actually all the silent hill games creeped me out in some way. (maybe ill play through Silent Hill 1 for a wayback wednesday...)
FEAR is creepy and believe it or not, the Resident Evil remake definitely cranked up the scare factor.
Fatal Frame is one of the scariest games I have ever played by myself for sure... I'm sure you can see why.

Resident Evils (apart from 4) for obvious reasons. I don't think anyone can say when unexpected jumpy stuff happens they don't jump.
Penumbra (black plauge mainly) in alot ways. Extremely atmospheric and has some genuinley scary enemies.
Alone in the dark - first game that ever scared me. Obvious reasons.
Other than that, all I can really say is that when I was very young, I was scared of playing the water levels on sonic the hedgehog because I sucked at judging how long I had left to breathe and the drowning music scared the SHIT out of me.

Haha, I'll admit it. I, too, hyperventilated whenever the drowning music started in Sonic. I was a strange kid.

I remember when I was younger, maybe six or seven and I played Parasite Eve. Actually, I wouldn't say I "played" it, lol. I was on the first mission, and despite having a big gun and being fully equipped, the first thing I saw scurrying on the floor made me jump and turn the game off.

I usually don't play a lot of scary games, but Bioshock to me was scary.

I usually don't play a lot of scary games, but Bioshock to me was scary. There were some disturbing moments in Bioshock, but what I thought was the most creepy was the feeling that I didn't belong in Rapture, and that even after its fall, the fact that people have survived and are just wandering around sort of unnerves me.
