TPS gives you an ability to look around and those games usually have a cover system but you have to shoulder your weapon to aim where as an FPS your gun is always shouldered but your usually attack by about fifty fukin hand grenades at the start of a match but seeing as FPS is slowly dying, TPS is my kind of game

I prefer FPS games, it's hard to be accurate when playing TPS, they usually make you use a shitty lock on feature which often doesn't work.

3rd person usually has the better storylines while FPS has the better multiplayer. And seeing I'm more of a person who looks at videogames as another venue of telling a story, I'm gonna have to say 3rd person
btw why not just make this a poll?

Yeah, Exocel pretty much have the good idea here about the whole both thing. Like in MGS4 it's TPS but you can use a lot of FPS at certain time. The combinaison of both and the whole way it's going for, TPS gonna top all eventually. The only FPS that are good is those massive killing game like Quake, Doom, Halo, etc.
we gonna just call it the AWPS (all way person shooter) ... LOL

I'm really not all that picky, although I recently got through oblivion and I played a lot more in FP then in TP, so i guess First Person.

Yep, because Gears of War has a better story than Half life 2.

I like both. If the game fits my taste, then I'll play it.

I don't have a preference really. There's tons of games in both genres that have gameplay or story nailed (Sometimes both in the same package). They just offer different viewpoints. I tend to enjoy TPS because they give a more cinematic view of the game, where as FPS make you feel like the character and more immersive. But like I said, both are strong genres.
Now, what I don't like is games having a strong mix of the two or even having transitions between the viewpoints, such as Rainbow Six: Vegas. Its disorientating and completely ruins the mood of the first person view. Instead of hiding around the corner seeing bullets fly pass guessing when to take a shot, you get a sudden panoramic view of people around the corner. At least when its a TPS you know the perspective. This is why I'm pissed off about the new James Bond game. It looks like there's going to be a ton of that. Why can't they just keep single player third person (Like Everything or Nothing) and the multiplayer first (Ala Goldeneye, Nightfire etc.)?

I have no problem with Third Person Shooters as long as they give me some sort of first person iron sight or something along those lines.
