do you think hipe for games kind of ruins the quality in the game i gues what i mean is do you think that a bunch of game developers are puting in so much money into advertising the game and they just make it mediocre the. kind of like what happend with force unleashed, merchs 2, spore, too human. especialy with spore sice like you guys said before it was geting top game in all the shows for a long time.

Do you think many games are "failing" today now because of standards set much too high?

hey guys, was wondering what you guys opinion was on the "bleak" future of the wii, with the cut in price of the xbox 360, the lack of new "big" games and now with the development of the wiimote like motion controller coming to xbox 360 and ps3 (http://uk.gear.ign.com/articles/910/910620p1.html) and what your opinion is on what they might be able to do to try and regain hope or even counteract these developments. thanks
(sorry if this is in the wrong part of the forum but im new to the forum, but have listened to your podcasts pretty much from the start)

you guys should talk about survival horror games and how their moving more towards the action in order to appeal to a more mainstream audience.
like silent hill 5, which is relying too much on the monsters as a way to frighten the players. In past sh titles there was a greater focus on the psychological aspect. The environment was the real monster. you would have to venture an old building with tight, claustrophobic hallways and creepy sounds that would keep you alert. Usually you would think something would pop up and attack you, but most of the time nothing was there. The past series were a complete mind game.

So when we were all younger we used to play some of these games that seemed ..well... impossible to beat but we loved it, most of us go back and play those retro games and still find them absurdly difficult. In today's game it seems that developers focus on it the "pretty" in gaming and seemed to disregard the "hard" factor. I find myself playing through games that look beautiful with amazing effects extremely fast.. and having them be absurdly easy...
Maybe you guys could talk about what you think about this? Is gaming becoing too easy?

What is your idea of an epic final boss fight?
IE, what kind of fight just made you say "wow"?
Also, what kind of final boss would you make?
I always did love final bosses with awesome music, epic fighting, and an epic stage that, by the end of the fight, is usually completely ruined.
(The final fight of Heavenly Sword comes to mind...)

I would like for you guys to talk about today's standards and expectations on graphics.
I was watching a trailer of mirror's edge and a friend of mine commented on the graphical quality of the game. He said, "I really don't like the way the city looks, its so white and bland. They should put ALOT more detail and add a little more grey and stuff."
I had to disagree. There's too much emphasis on hyper-realism. If games don't have hyper-realistic graphics, then to some people its not next-gen.
I see mirror's edge's approach to its visuals as a distinct art style, it sets it apart from other games and to me that's what good graphics are. And looking back at games last-gen; ico, okami, viewtiful joe, and katamari damacy have had distinctive visuals as well, which complemented the overall feel they were trying to convey with the game itself.
that's just my opinion, but what do you guys think truly defines "good graphics."

well, you've been asked this question before, but how about this. You've been asked which games you'd like to turn into movies correct? well, your answer lacked new-gen games, not to say it's a problem. but i'd like to know which game out of the new-gen listing, and upcoming games would you like to see turned into a(n) series, animated series, or movie.
personally, i'd like to see Dead space or F.E.A.R as a movie.

I've always attempted to stay away from over-hyped games to avoid disappointment. What is your take on this? Also, how do you critique certain games to officially claim them to be "over-hyped"?
