Say all you want about the Star Wars franchise, but even a non-Star Wars fan can't resist saying that one of the best game series that LucasArts released would have to be Star Wars Battlefront. Battlefront brings the action of Star Wars to your game console. Its an amazing FPS, and if you haven't played it, you should.
First I would like to say I know some or most of you will disagree with me (probably saying the Force Unleashed was better), but seriously how many games has LucasArts release with the main character as a Jedi, its great to play as something new once in a while.
Now I would like to explain and ask something. A couple of months ago a leaked gameplay trailer for what looked like Star Wars Battlefront III was released to the public on January 15, 2009. This gameplay footage was from a Free Radical in-house showing. Even though it was video taped, when watching the video you will have have an amazing feeling that this game was Next-Gen. The graphics would over pass its others in the series, even the gameplay look far from what people would have expected. New Units, new maps, the new ground from space travel feature, this game would get at least over a 9 rating anywhere.
But soon after, sadly, Free Radical lost its rights to the game. My guess for Radical losing the rights is with all the leaked art that was leaked. Even the story mode was nearly leaked (all we know is that Obi-Wan turns to the dark side). LucasArts was probably outraged with Radical and released them from their contracts. Anyways speculation turned to Pandemic, who made Battlefront 2, to taking Free Radicals place, Pandemic said these rumors were false. Now I wouldn't turn our backs on Pandemic on this project yet. Yes they denied the development of Battlefront 3, but remember LucasArts has been trying to keep the development a secret, so Pandemic could be saying this to hide it.
I've heard talk that the leaked video footage was footage for the PSP version of Battlefront: Elite Squadron, but I really highly doubt it. If you haven't seen the leaked video here it is www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVKasNTrzWs now trust me watch the entire video it is real footage, its not some fan made footage people trick with. My biggest problem is that LucasArts is obsessed with putting the Battlefront series on the hand held consoles. Now you tell me, do you think Battlefront 3 is in development or do you think they canceled it? And if it comes out will you buy it?
