Abusive Mods in Chat

I normally try to stay out of subjects such as these, but I have to admit I have seen a couple of occasions where well known members of the community have gotten away with flaming and harrasment, and new members have gotten banned/TO'd for opposing them.

The sad thing about this is that these new members all have the potential to become respected members themselves. But the chances are a lot of them are left with a bad opinion of the 4PP community and don't want to bother trying to get into the community afterwards.

Travis, I respect you. However, you have to understand something; Some of us dislike unfair treatment and irrational behavior in all of their forms, regardless of where or when it occurs. I'm not trying to make it seem like 4PP chat is some important entity that needs to be handled a certain way; It's up to you, Nick, David, and Brad as to how the chatroom is handled. I am merely putting forth the flaws that I observe. Now, Stranger's posts seem largely just to complain about shit, so I won't speak for him.

Whenever I find my self within a structured, organized community (and it happens more often than most people would think is healthy), I feel a need to point out the flaws, and tell people what could and should be improved. A virtue or a vice, however, I cannot say, because sometimes it's both and sometimes it's neither.

I'm not saying that there should be a stop put to the favoritism, because of two things. Number one being that I don't see a way to really enforce a "no favorites" system, and the other is that people will always prefer one person over another because of a personal relationship or something along those lines.

I am, however, saying that there should be some form of selective process when it comes to voice and TOs and things like that, that doesn't involve "Oh, well, I like this person, so s/he doesn't get a TO, but this person over here, who did the exact same thing, does." My thoughts on the voicing system are already posted, and you know where to find them.

This community shouldn't be divided over something like this. We're a group of people with common interests and I consider many of the people here to be my friends, even if they don't consider me the same. We shouldn't crumble over silly, trivial matters like this. However, I do think that the discussion needs to be had. How else are we to improve on what newcomers will see, if not through discussion? I know! Let's hold a tournament, with real weapons, and the winner gets to be the king of 4PP!
