its a bit ironic how this is always a question you find in pretty much everywhere they are both good games
hmx and red octane did gh1-rock the 80s (which sucked) but then neversoft came are ruined the entire thing
so HMX games are just better (ie rockband1&2 and gh2)
red octane is just trying to milk money now... and lets not get started of rock revolution lol

I have not played the Rockband series of games but the GH games right now seem a bit...exaggerated.

Rockband I would have to go with all the way on this one, being a person that has clammy hands and could never hold or have the quick mind-set to play through a song while switching fingers very fast. I knew I could always try the drums because I have a better way with beats and patterns but when it really came down to it, I could always just sing the songs and that's what I'm good at on Rockband, oh sure I've tried GH before but it just wasn't my part to be a guitar guy. Give me a mic or a set of drum sticks and I'll show you who's the Big Bossman (Springsteen)

Rock Band, I just rent new Guitar Hero games now and buy Rock Band games. Same here. I really don't have the money to buy a whole new game just to play a couple of songs on the setlist that I would enjoy. That's why I enjoy Rockband DLC.

Rock Band, it just felt right having the guys with the experience of doing something great and turning it even better. Guitar hero just seems... forced now.
Both fun, but just looking at both of them side by side the Rock Band games look alot more clean, so much clutter on GH3 and GH:WT that I sometimes lost exactly what some of the things meant.

Rock Band because they do vocals WAY better than GH and the DLC is awesome.

I'm going to have to go with Rock Band on this one mostly because I like the feel of the instruments better.

wow 31 votes for RB vs 1 for GH... ouch... I definitely prefer Rock Band... I think the only reason GH is selling so well is that the two are pretty casual-friendly games, so casual gamers that don't know the story behind the devs just go with the more established name, which is a shame.. after playing Rock Band, Guitar Hero's circular notes just feel wrong and unrealistic.. I prefer Rock Band's songs, DLC, loading times, customization, style... and the fact that GHWT was a blatant copy of Rock Band made me lose what little respect I had for neversoft

I would say Rockband because there is more people you can play with instead of one more. Like Guitar hero, 2 people is the max. Rockband, 4 is the max for that.
