Post your comment. Prototype, is it epic or fail? Why or why not?

Neither.
It's a solid game, it's fun, but it's nothing close to something like Shadow of the Colossus or Ico.

It's a decent rental, but I don't think it's still fun after beating the game once.

I would say it is epic for what it does in its sense of scale and the amount of power it imbues to the player. Name ONE other game that has a 100 zombies running around, marines with rifles, rocket launchers shooting em, tanks and apaches flying around, hunters attacking you all while your trying to do something.
Trying to compare Prototype to team Ico games is like trying to compare Terminator 2 to Forest Gump.
You can't compare things that are in two COMPLETELY different genres, Prototype is the over top action blockbuster while Team Ico games are designed to be emotional works of art.

I have a topic on this subject somewhere. I suggest you make a search for it. There is no reason why I can't compare the two games on their own merits. Team Ico games are fucking amazing for what they are, while Prototype is not.

Team Ico games are f**k**g amazing for what they are, while Prototype is not. I was going to point out that thread, beat me to it. Can't help but agree with the first post though, very single-minded judgment. "IF ITS NOT BETTER THAN MY FAVORITE THING THEN ITS..." On topic, I haven't played this, but never got excited over all the hype. Like inFAMOUS, its just another third-person action game...

I liked it. It wasn't as amazing as I expected, but I'm not disappointed with my purchase. I finished the single player but there's a ton of side missions I've yet to attempt, plus orbs and upgrades. I don't think I'll go through the story again but the free roam should keep me entertained for awhile. Now,next question....
Should the words "epic" and "fail" be eliminated from our vocabulary? Yes or no?

I was never really a fan of those open world games like H:UD and SM2, but I guess I will give this a shot considering the reviews it has gotten.

I really didn't like it. I don't mind over the top games but here it was just ridiculous. For a game that encourages destruction and carnage it is severely underwhelming to see you cannot really cause any damage to buildings or anything. The controls feel sloppy, the game feels sloppy and the whole product as a whole just ... feels unfinished. The game also has no challenge. You cannot die. I know you're supposed to be some big badass but seriously, they just went way overboard with the whole super power thing here IMO. You walk and automatically slap people (as seen in a 4PP vid) it's just annoying and silly IMO.

I think decent sums it up pretty well.
It's a fully enjoyable game, and I had fun playing it. Any game where sidequests are incentivized to the point where I actually want to do them, or feel like they have some kind of proper reward for time invested, is doing it correctly.
Story is not a strong point.
