Sonic the Hedgehog needs a....

Has anyone else here noticed that the 3d sonic games are about as good as mud? Although I think Sonic and the Black Knight was amazing, don't listen to the IGN review they didn't even finish the game- and by that I mean that they missed a good... 2/5 of it. (I'm serious)
I wanna find the guy who came up with the werehog idea and beat him around a little, Sonic Unleashed would've been better with just Sonic running and platforming like he used to.

So I am curious to know if I'm the only one that misses the good Sonic, ya know, where Tails and Knuckles actually did something, and the games didn't have endings extremely similar to DragonBall Z? Being a big Sonic fan I'm ashamed to see what's become of him in the 3d games. (Sonic 2006 was just....ugh)
What do you all think? Has Sonic kicked the bucket? Or are there things that they could do to save his speedy blue behind?

Personally, I cried when I saw Shadow with a gun. That was just... terrible. : / I mean, I loved the first Sonic Adventure when I was a kid, I played it all the time. I just don't know anymore...

I liked Shadow the Hedgehog, it was...different.

But personally I would be happy if Sonic went back to just being Sonic, none of this were-hedgehog, or whatever the fuck it's called, bullshit.

Just straight up Sonic. But I suppose the times of having a game that simple as a full retail title, not PSN or XBLA or even WiiWare, are gone.

A game like that wouldn't cut it in today's market so they have to adapt to make it sell...but they don't know what they can do with Sonic, as there isn't much you can do without taking away the whole Sonic experience.

Sonic, needs to stop reinventing itself and going the mario way.. with racing, sports, action games, and multiplayer party games. Go back to side-scrolling fast paced awesome-ness and that's that.

They could go the "Paper Mario" way and do a 2d/3d mix, but done right.

I think Sonic went down hill after the Dreamcast version, that was the last good Sonic game in my opinion.

The last sonic I enjoyed was Sonic Adventures 2 for the Gamecube.
I agree though with how every sonic title released today are being way too ambitious and have the super sonic dragonball endings (lol).

The high speed boosting in Sonic Unleashed levels were amazing and they really should have more levels and gameplay like that. That's all you need really for a decent sonic game.

I agree, Sonic Adventure 2 was great. Everything I saw from then on was just awful. I played a little bit of Sonic and the Black Knight, and it was pretty fun though. Maybe I'll have to try that out again.

About Shadow The Hedgehog, I think that they were trying to make a "Shadow" game rather than a Sonic one. But, really they could've at least made sure it controlled alright, slipping everywhere... *shudder*

Sonic CD was delivered rather well, too bad the Sega CD wasn't which is why Sonic CD isn't as known. I'm really hoping that they do a remake version of the good games, that'd be nice.

Sonic adventures 1 and 2 were the only good 3d titles that sega made for sonic >_>
