Hi, I'm 15 and I really need a job. I'm pretty tired of getting $10 a month for mowing the lawn. I've heard it's possible for me to get a job at 15, but I'm unsure because I hear I must be 16 to get a job. So just wondering if any of you guys can give me any tips on finding a job.

Legal ages vary from state to state, but in this economy getting even a part-time job is hard as balls, at least where I live... Be motivated, call them before they call you, come off as a stand-up guy, etc etc.

Like Wednesday said, it varies from State to State. However, I think you can get a work permit from your school, assuming you go to a public one. I'm not sure, though. Try using google.

$8 an hour is better than $0 a month, Xalgar. ^ this Its better than 4.50 an hour, thats what my sis gets working at a golf course, shes doing her best too This economy is hurting everybody and its getting really hard to get jobs. I myself cant get one because of family issues (G'ma is close to passing) so yea, i would just go around where you live and just ask if they are hiring ot not

Want a piece of advice? Good, because you're getting one.
Head to your local city hall, or civic centre, or whatever the building where municipal offices are located, and track down the person(s) in charge of hiring for public works jobs. Odds are they can find you something, if you explain your situation, whether it be dealing with paperwork, or even mowing lawns for the city.

Hmm... Looking for a job alrighty? Well you should sometimes check your daily newspaper sometimes. Since they might have listing for jobs.
If you have friends at school who are enlisted in jobs ask them for an application because, sometimes people want recommendations.
Also if your getting an application and you send it in. Call the office a few times referring to your application. Because, I know managers who would want a person who is willing to work hard for them...
Then again I did a few jobs here and there... Had some experiences.

I volunteer at an autism center. $0 for working with the kids, but pretty good pay for working with their accounting staff....
All they really require is that you have decent grades and be in high school. (at least where I am, that is.)
Volunteering doesn't sound so great, but it looks really good on a job application when you get your work permit.

I started working when I was not even 13. It was a summer job with fast food at the annual fair.
I think working at a grocery store would be cool for a first job.

Well first off. Look up your state laws, Yea the majority is 16... thats something you need to find out. If so just wait a bit till your 16 find a job itl be fine. Also try to apply somewhere "easy". Burger King McDonalds Target Wal Mart etc...
I don't know if they have a required age but find out. Call em up or just fill out an application. If they call ya awesome, if not, keeep on looking. Those places aren't the most GLORIOUS jobs, but it'll give you experience.
