Overview: Peggle is a puzzle game made by Popcap. It's kind of like Pachinko and Bust-a-Move but with powerups. The object of this game is to clear all the orange pegs in a level. Sounds simple enough right? Right?..
There are four modes you can play:
Adventure mode, which is basically the story mode of Peggle. The more levels you play, the more "Peggle" masters you unlock. Each peggle master has a special perk or ability when you strike a green peg with your ball.I'm not particularly fond of arcade puzzle games, but Peggle is an exception. There's really nothing much to it gameplay wise. Just fire your ball in an angle and hope you hit some pegs. That's what it really boils down to, hope that you get a lucky shot. This is the core attraction to the game, and it has worked out better than I imagined.
Master mode, which includes 5 more levels with stricter requirements such as clear a certain amount of pegs. You can choose any character to play as.
Duel mode, which is the multiplayer version in which you have to have the highest score against an opponent.
And challenge mode, which is basically an extension of Master mode but with way more levels.
Playing as Bjorn.
Every level has different themes and the pegs are laid out differently, making you strategize your shots, making you hope you get a good shot. But, don't be discouraged! The game isn't all that difficult! At least, not in adventure mode... I'm sure by the time you're done with Adventure mode, you'll be ready for the other harder modes. Obviously, the learning curve isn't steep at all. It's real easy for anyone to just hop in and play. I admit, there are some times where it just gets down right infuriating, but that's what gives the game some challenge. Whether you're a veteran puzzle junkie or you just want to try something new besides those FPS games, Peggle is the perfect game.
There are characters, or "Peggle Masters", you play as. They all have different and unique special abilities or perks. For instance, Bjorn, the unicorn, can tell you where the ball ends up after you shoot it. Each character can be more useful in one level than another level, leaving you to strategically pick your character for a level.
Clearing a level of all orange pegs.
What I enjoy most about this game is that when you get your last peg, this epic orchestra music starts playing and your ball turns to a super rainbow colored ball. ;D
You can also enjoy this game online or with your friends locally. Each of your opponents take turns playing in your own boards. After each shot a player makes, the round is over. Depending on how many balls there are, it determines the number of rounds there are. Whoever has the highest score at the end of the game wins.
I can't really find a con to this game other than a couple of ridiculously hard shots here and there, but it's really nothing major. Everything seems right with Peggle, Popcap has really outdone themselves.
Overall, this game is a good bang for the buck. At 800 MS points, or $10 on Steam (PC), you should definitely buy this game. To me, it doesn't really matter which platform you buy it on. If you have a PC and not a 360 (vice versa) then buy it for that particular platform. So, buy it now now now!
