I came across this on another forum. Some you have probably heard about, a few your probably havent. They arent all vital information by any means, but interesting anyway. I did not compile this, so I take no credit for it, or blame if they are false, lol enjoy.
- The makers of Sonic Adventure 1 paid a couple of artists $500,000 each so they could fly down to Mexico/South America, and "model the detailed environments of Mystic Ruins after the Incan/Aztec ruins". The end result? A tiny, cramped little playing area.
- Crash Bandicoot was originally called "Wuzzy The Wombat".
- While working on Starcraft during "crunch mode", programmer/designer Bob Fitch was spending 80 hours a week at Blizzard, sleeping on the couch and having other people bring him food.
- There's files on the Animal Crossing GCN disk titled "blood", "gib1", "gib2", "gib3", and "rifle".
- Rare's gaming HQ is considered one of, if not, THE MOST expensive gaming studio ever. Unnecessary things include: A room featuring copies of Rare's box-arts in different language, a room with ping-pong tables, and a room with a small (10x15) Indoor Swimming Pool.
- Lucas was supposed to replace Ness in Melee. But Mother 3 N64 fell into development hell, and since it obviously wouldn't be very smart to use a character for a game that might never even come out, Ness was kept in Melee. (Had Mother 3 N64 been released, Ness probably wouldn't be in Brawl. He got lucky.)
- Ganondorf was the most requested Zelda character on the Melee polls. Sakurai states that Ganondorf was lucky that he had a similar body structure to Falcon; otherwise he wouldn't have made it.
- Final Fantasy got it's name because it was supposed to be SquareSoft's final video game ever made when they were on the brink of bankrupcy in 1986. That game kept the company afloat for 12+ installments and a meger in 2003 and still keeps it afloat.
- EarthBound can be played entirely with one hand. The L button is a shortcut for Check/Talk/Accept, and the Select button acts the same as the B button. To bring up the main menu outside, press Select and then L.
- Banjo Tooie had a LOT of sexual innuendo. The best example is a rock formation shaped like a part of the male anatomy which you use Mumbo's Spell called "Enlarge."
- Sega considered an armadillo as its mascot, and Sonic the Hedgehog was originally called "Mr. Needlemouse."
- Gamers playing The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion can expect to see 35,544 shrubs, 67,730 plants and mushrooms, 94,013 trees and logs, and 395,696 rocks.
- The least-violent first-person shooter is Deus Ex, which can be completed by killing just three enemies.
- There are a total of 20,000 lines of spoken dialogue in BioWare's sci-fi role-playing game Mass Effect--the same as you could expect in about 20 movies.
- The last N64 game to be released was Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 in 2002 in the U.S. Just 396 cartridges were made.
- Lara Croft's massive breasts in the original Tomb Raider were the result of an honest mistake. A programmer mistakenly set the growth of the breasts to 150%. The other pervy developers liked it and it stuck.
- Sonic Xtreme was meant to be a real traditional Sonic game on the Saturn that Sega said could rival Mario 64. After going through at least 4 different producers and changes to the gaming engine it slowly became Chris Coffin's one man project, he moved into his office and began to work on the game nonstop, that caused him to contract pneumonia and quit developing the game. Sonic Xtreme missed the Holiday release for whatever year it was and was soon canceled. This article about the whole ordeal is an interesting read:

- Mega Man 2 was never supposed to be made, as the first Mega Man was a failure. However, the creators decided to make the game in their spare time, and thus the hit was made a the franchise was truly born.
