Debate Forum Guidelines

Here are the rules for posting in the Debate subforum. Follow them, or do not bother to post in the debate forum at all.

• Type like a person, not a chimp. There is to be no 1337 sp33k, no “chat speek” (i.e. Y r u so gay???). This includes no excessive use of punctuation and not capitalizing every word in a sentence.
  Ad hominem arguments do not fly here. That is, do not try to defeat someone's argument by attacking the person with a personal insult. “Your argument is invalid because you are a silly person!” is an example of this. Insults are fine, but don't use them as your counterargument, such as “Your argument is invalid, here's why. Stop using that, idiot!”
  
• Do not post your personal opinion. This section is for debates, not “I like this. You're free to not like it.” We are here to discuss issues, not hear your personal commentary. If the subject is something like religion, post the logical steps you took to get to your position, don't just say “I believe in 'x' God.”
  
  
• If any claim is made and someone asks you for a source on it, either post the source or stop using it as an argument. Even with a source, if the source is not credible (ihatereligion.com, for instance), the source becomes invalid, stop using it.
