I understand it is your first time and all but I think these topics might help. Clipping and headroom. Get both of these down and you will have a good, quality sounding podcast. Also, increasing the levels in post doesn't add noise, so keep that in mind.

I don't think the audio in the podcast isn't that bad. They all just need high quality headsets.

The podcast isn't that bad, but isn't that good sounding either. Really I'm saying it could sound better than it is currently. While the clipping from the levels being too high is gone, there is still clipping at the microphones. And because other people are better with words: From How Stuff Works: "The one thing [mics] all have in common is the diaphragm, which collects the sound waves and creates movement in whatever technology is being used to create the signal. " From Wikipedia: "The clipping level is perhaps a better indicator of maximum usable level..." "Clipping, on the other hand, usually caused by the diaphragm reaching its absolute displacement limit, will produce a very harsh sound on peaks, and should be avoided if at all possible." To hear what I am talking about listen to Brad, it happens when he gets a little ranty, you will hear the harsh sound. Soutions: Talk NPR style. (lol) Or move the mics farther away from your face. (easiest thing to do) OR buy new mics with higher clipping levels. (but this costs money) The best thing to do is to learn what clipping sounds like and know what to do when you hear this. (which I have just told you) You have to actually listen for it, it won't just show up on Garage Band like the levels will. Hope this helps. Also if you could give some details on exactly what you are using to record, the hardware you know, then I might could give some suggestions on setting it up.
