Fable takes place in the land of Albion. The place is full of treasures, mysteries and talking doors. Also guarding these treasures are bandits, undead, bugs and a nasty, smelly creatures named Hobbes. Overall, Fable is pretty good. The combat gameplay is easy to learn and really fun to play or watch. The graphics are pretty good for a 2004 game. Sounds are... well I can't think of the music right now... lol the game is that fun! Anyways the combat is easy.
You start out as a little boy who's supposed to make money to buy a b-day present for your sister. You're dad says he will give you a coin for each good deed you do. You'll soon find out that doing bad deeds will still get you money. So there you start of picking a side when young. Good or bad. Your choice. Then in our teenage years you will be whisked away to Boot Camp. or the Heroes Guild as they call it. Trained in the arts of combat you will! And soon once your old enough you will leave the guild to begin you journey.
Most of the quests you will be getting will be from the Guild. Each quest will be unique and u will usually, help someone or find someone or someting or kill something. You will get some cool rewards and you will gain lots of experience too. Aftr you finish a quest you will get a trophy of the quest which you could hang up in you home or play a minigame where you have to show it to everyone in the area before a certain time limit. Anyways almost all the quests requires some fighting.
There are 3 styles of combat in this game. Melee, skill(range, stealh), will(magic). Melee is overall the best way to battle. Just go in and hack at the enemy. Range is cool too, with unlimited arrows, you can shoot from afar and try to knock them ot before they spot you. Will is also really good and can really pound the enemies when they are far or up close. All you have to do in combat is lock on your target and slash away or shoot away or fire lightning away. No need to worry about missing. So once you get strong weapons like a huge axe and you're surrounded by enemies. Usually one swing and you send the enemies down. Or you could just use some magic and knock them down as well.
There are lots of other things to do. In Fable you may encounter Demon Doors who guard treasures and will usually tell you a riddle. You need to find out what they want you to do to make them open. The towns are full of people. They are working, walking, talking or drinking. Also you'll see little kids too. The towns are also guarde by guards who are ready to attack u if u break the law and dont pay the fine. Some things to do are... break into a house, buy a house, get married, flirt with the women(or men), or drink to your hearts content. The day life is pretty normal people working, socializing so same old same old. But who knows what goes on at night, check out whats the night life all about. Who knows what you will find.
Houses can be bought in each city. Occasionally other houses goes on sale because something happens to the owner(:shock. You can buy the house and upgrade the furniture inside. Then you can either rent it out or sell it again. Nothing much in houses, just some place you can sleep uninterupted. Marriage is my fav part of the game. Once you are well known you can go to the local tavern during nighttme(ppl are hanging out there) and flirt. To get a wife(or husband) you have to flirt with them, give gifts and look good! Soon a heart may appear over her head and the bigger, th better. Soon it'll start blinking and you'll need to get a wedding ring for her. Then wallah! She's your wife(or husband). If u make her really happy... Sum sum will happen. Yea but you will get no kids. Thats gonna be in Fable 2. Once you get experience you will get stronger and more muscular, swing weapons faster, learn new spells and shoot more accurately. You will get really famous in game and ppl will start to wave at you and clap when in towns. Also you will get battle scars which will appear on your face and body. You can get tatoos, cut your hair or get and wear some cool outfits.
Allingment is another big thing in the game. Basically, if you're good, you'll look holy with butterflies flying around you, blue eyes and pale skin. If you're evil then you'll get ugly skin, black hair, grow horns and have mosquitoes flying around you. There are some places where you can reverse you're allingment. But with a price, who knows, maybe its money or a life or an item...
So Fable is pretty good for a 2004 game. Some bad things are that the areas are usually only paths leading forward and once you find the treasure, there really isnt a reason to go back there again. Also once you finish Fable's main quest, there will be nothing left to do. No quests, you can just spend the rest of you're life fighting or hang out with you girlfriends I'm sure you have. Also the story is also pretty short for an RPG but is fun while it lasts. So Fable will be fun once you really play it. But if you need more then get Fable 2 or if you can't wait, get Fable: Th Lost Chapters for additional content.
