I didn't see Ippo being listed here, so I thought I'd ask.
Has anyone watched this fantastic anime? It's about a kid in school that decided to be a boxer. Throughout the story you see his path and struggle in rising to become a successful boxer.
I started watching it around 2003, and I know it's nerdy to say this-- but I believe that this anime was very inspiring for me. Because of it, I worked out quite often and felt very inspired to do running and weight training. The result was that I lost 40 lbs in about 6 months and felt fantastic.
Hajime no Ippo started its next season as of January. So far, it's keeping true to the manga.

Yeah, I've heard about this anime and the weird thing is my dad enjoys this anime too. We use to rent the DVDs at the rental and we even played Ippo's road to Victory or something like that on the PS2. I loved it, almost inspired me to go back to karate.

I've read through the entire series and watched all the episodes as well in the last few months. Good stuff. I haven't been keeping up with the new anime however.

are you kidding me? this is by far one of the best series that i have ever seen. i to have been inspired by Ippo and his group of friends. The manga's are amazing and have only gotten better over time. The new series is great because there is no BS fillers. It is straight 100% from the manga. Though i feel that everyone should be inspired by this anime in one way or another if you want to work out or even go achieve something. i want to get the whole box set of the original series and show it on japan cast someday
