This should be obvious from the title, but expect to see spoilers. Actually, I gaurantee spoilers.
I started watching this series on saturday, and I was instantly hooked, like holy shit hooked. I hadn't been that into an anime since I read Death Note. If you can't tell, I'm into tings that will fuck with my mind. I worshipped Fight Club.
Anyways, I started watching Saturday, and ended it Monday. All of the episodes were great, untill it started nearing the end. I started to realize that the shounen bat wasn't real, but mental solution to all of the people's problems; if they got knocked out, all of the pressure would have to go away. They made this obvious in the first few episodes, and even threw in a twist of having a real shounen bat attack three people to throw you off track. This was all great for me, I enjoyed the hell out of this.
But then, I find out that shounen-bat is actually a demon created by Tsuki because she didnt want to tell her that her dog got ran over, and that demon is going to destroy the world? At this point, I just thought "What the fuck..." and not the good kind of wtf. It's like they didn't want to explain why the shounen bat kid was killing people now, and decided to go with "Alien Ninjas are attacking or internets!"
So, I was let down. Anyone else agree? Disagree? Anything? Can anyone recommend some good mind-fuckery anime?

I wouldn't change a thing in Paranoia Agent. Hell Girl seems to be a good mind f**k anime & I've only seen 1 ep.

higurashi no naku koro ni is a good mind efkay/horror, especially in the question arcs, if you can live with its mediocre visual quality. but then again, i am still yet to grasp the meaning of the word "mind f**k" properly.
so do you recommend PA as a good series to watch?

I would recommend this series to someone who isn't a fan of anime. Maybe someone with a bit weirder tastes. The plot can hook you very easily, and the pay off is worth it.

Satoshi Kon is one of my favorite directors, having done Millenium Princess, Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers and Paprika. Paranoia Agent is his only animated series on his resume, and it's beautifully done. the revelation was a bit disappointing to me too, but the brilliance of the overall series more than makes up for it. it's more of a taste thing too i suppose.

I remember when it first aired on Adult Swim at least a good 4 or 5 years ago. It blew my mind away. It's a short series so it is easy to get into and watch it all. Not too sure I can say the same for the plot. Lil Slugger But yeah, I haven't watched any good anime since Paranoia Agent and Death Note.
