*UPDATE* How to Broadcast a Console

So, a common question around this place, is how can I broadcast a console like 4PlayerPodcast. Well, here's how to.

What you'll need is a

• A Dazzle DVC 100, A.K.A DVD Recorder.
  
• A TV/VCR with Audio/Video Composite Out
  
• A nearby computer with USB input and good connection
  
• 1 set of dual ended male composite VIDEO and AUDIO Cables.
  
• A Male to Male RCA to 1'8 Input (A.K.A Line IN Cables)
  
• Adobe Flash Media Encoder (FREE)
  
• An audio mixer to be able to use both game audio and MIC. I recommend this mixer. www.amazon.com/Behringer-502-Xenyx-Mixer/dp/B000GHB9UM
  
• A set of RCA to 1'4 TRS Adapters (4)
  
• 1 1'8 to 1'4 TRS Cable (Only if your Mic's input is a small jack which is a 1'8)
  

You can find the Dazzle at BestBuy, or order it from www.pinnaclesys.com
The Male to Male RCA cable is available at and local Radioshack. I wasn't able to find any on the site, but it was in the store for some reason.
The Line In Adapter is available in a Best Buy store.

NOTE: This tutorial works for both Vista and XP when using the Xenyx 502.

How To Set Up (W/ the Xenyx 502)

Step 1) Plug in your console with your composite cables to your T.V or VCR. You cannot broadcast using HDMI or Component cables with the Dazzle.

Step 2) From your TV or VCR, using your Dual Ended Male composite VIDEO cable, to your Dazzle DVC 100.

Step 3) Plug in the AUDIO Cables from the TV or VCR to the audio mixer to the Xenyx 502

Step 4) Plug in your Mic through the 1'8 to 1'4 (Depending on your Mic input. The small jack is a 1'8. The big jack is a 1'4.

Step 5) All of this sound is now being mixed and can be connected to your computer through a Line IN Audio Cable.

Step 6) Now, in Adobe Flash Media Encoder, choose for VIDEO, Dazzle DVC 100, and for Audio, use Line In. Now you can change your setting based on your connection and speed.

Step 7) Link your JTV account with Adobe Flash Media Encoder, hit the Green Start button, and your broadcasting.

Recommended Settings

Bitrate - VP6 at, at least 1000-1500 KBPS. Or H.264 at 800-1500 for High Quality on JTV.

Go to www.speedtest.net to test your upload speed. Depending on your upload speed is how much your bitrate should be set too.

Frames Per Second - 60 Frames per second

Video Input and Output Size - 640 x 480 or 720 x 480

Select DEINTERLACE (IMPORTANT)

He probably runs the audio from a line-in cable and has a soundcard/onboard that enables the use of both the line-in and microphone at the same time.

To answer your question Str4, i do use a line in cable. you can find them in any Best Buy or Radioshack.

and no Darknezz, that last time i saw him broadcast he always uses his mic. unless he changed while i wasn't there.

Oh sweet, apart from the mixer I think I have all of this equipment. All I'd need to do is get that and I'm set. Shame this PC is in another room though. :/ Maybe when we move I can get this computer closer to my new room. Who knows, maybe [insert working title for thecosmicfly's future gaming channel] will soon be up and running.

Well, if your on connected internet, and it' pretty fast, I'd recommend 350-400 on the bitrate in FME.

If your on mobile, I.E a laptop, than go with 200-250. If you make your speed on either kind to high, it'll come out choppy. The higher the bit rate, the better the quality.

Yeah, you can mix audio without a mixer.. This mostly works on desktop pc's. Like you can use the RCA adapter to grab audio from your tv to the line in port (The blue port thingy) and you can just plug a mic into your pink Microphone port don't know if this works with usb mics..

You should be able to use the stereomix on your pc.. But sometimes adobe will record everything on your pc so it might have an echo effect. To get rid of echo's and screeches you might have to mute the Wave function from sound settings. >.>; Thus muting it will takeaway sound from your pc but atleast it takes away the constant loud screech from your broadcast..

But this isn't so hot with Windows Vista. XP has no problems whatsoever. I've tried, and failed.

Hey, I was wondering you could help me. As of right now, I use a capture card and Behringer 502 Xenyx mixer mentioned above. I also have a projector I play all my consoles and play all my dvds on all plugged into a switchbox thingy. The projector doesn't have an output I can run to the capture card/mixer, so here's where my problem is. Idealistically, I would like to play games off my projector and also stream through Justin.tv, but I'm not exactly sure how to do it. I have another switchbox thingy and an abundance of a/v cables, so it's not really an issue of going out and buying something else; I'm just not exactly sure how I would set it up. Any help would be much appreciated.

I guess my problem would be the same if I DID have a tv that didn't didn't have outputs. But I think I'm just confusing myself now.

About how much do you think this will cost? I don't think I need a mixer, so a price without the mixer would be great.
