Click for HD qualityIt's the first video on youtube I've seen with a resolution that high and it looks damn nice. Apparently there's a &fmt=22 that's better than the 18 one. No loss of quality in fullscreen mode.

I'm embarrassed to say this is my first AMV, quiet horrible indeed, from a few years back or something.
But other than that, I really love this amv, not made by me but made by user Spargo1. Indeed a great in my perspective.

This one is very well done. It's a remix of the original music video...it's done almost frame-for-frame...obviously with anime/video game characters instead of live-action.

some of these music videos bring back memories...
the tainted donuts one was mindblowing when i first came out, still is xP
i used to be really into making amvs but i never put em online (it was pre youtube era). editing clips from your favorite anime to sync up with the music is a great feeling.
youtube has too many music videos where they edit NOTHING and it's just a complete fight scene with rock music. those kind of annoy me. i remember when amvs were rare to find, and each one took hours to download with a crappy internet connection but paid off. another complaint is that a lot of AMVs nowadays end up showing off every single awesome moment, having no build up, tension or structure. maybe i'm too attached to amvs past, i rarely watch any now.
i'll post some awesome old school AMVs. these are from Maboroshi Studios, he was seriously a pioneer of the subject, the best all-around when AMVs started getting popular. this guy alone inspired me to make amvs:
