This was just a thought I had passing through my mind. Now I don't own a Wii, but I was wondering what Wii owners think about the idea of a Condemned game appearing on the Wii?
The concept of first person combat fits perfectly with the Wiimote and nunchuck. I'm not 100% sure how they could fully translate it with little or no hitches, but I do have tons of ideas on how they could do it and I feel it can be done. One idea I have is that you move around like you normally would in an FPS on the Wii, but when you want to fight an enemy you can hold the trigger down to lock onto them and start fighting with the appropiate motion attacks, and use the D-pad to switch between near by enemies (Good for crowd control). I've got plenty more ideas on how they could translate the controls, such as throwing, picking up, crime scene investigation etc. but that's just a small prevew of what could be. Of course graphics would take a hit, but with the proper devs, game engine and time I'm sure it could turn out to be one of the Wii's best looking horror games. Also, I'm not sure whether they should do a port of the Condemned games themselves (Either Criminal Origins or Bloodshot), or even make a spin off, but regardless of what it is, would you like to see a Condemned style game on the Wii?
EDIT: actually, I've decided to post my ideas for the controls. This list is in no way perfect, and some of the control choices may conflict with other commands (I might even be missing some controls), but as a rough draft I think these controls would turn out functional, immersive and most importantly, fun as hell.
-Movement is handled like any other FPS on the Wii, nunchuck for moving and the Wiimote for looking around
-When you want to engage in combat you hold the B button/trigger down to lock onto them. You can still move with the nunchuck analog, and fighting hand-to-hand is just like Wii Sports boxing with jabs, blocking etc. except punches will automatically move you foward to the enemy so you're not punching thin air. The left and right D-pad buttons are used to to switch between near by enemies with ease
-Like in Criminal Origins, to peform a quick takedown just tap one of the D-pad button when the icon is displayed (You have to let go of B first though)
-A is the same as the action button from the other games, like opening a door, picking up items etc.
-When you want to pick up a weapon press A. The combat is essentially the same as hand-to-hand, except only with the Wiimote
-To use the stun gun press Z while aiming with the Wiimote
-This one I have some doubts with, but I feel that this could work. When you want to throw an object, aim with the Wiimote, and when you've aimed at what object you want to hit hold C to freeze the camera and then peform a throwing move with the Wiimote.
-When you want to throw something at an enemy, simply hold B to lock on to them, hold C and then make the throwing move. Of course if you're in combat you'd be doing this with split second timing.
-Investigation scenes IMO should be lifted from Bloodshot. So you'd select A at the scene to start investigating (Or exit it), zoom in by moving the Wiimote foward and select from the choices that appear and choose what you think happened with the B trigger.
-To select the forensic tools, in or out of investigation scenes, press 1 to display the tools, scroll through them using the nunchuck analog and press 1 again to select.
-Shooting a gun is simple. When equiped, use Wiimote to aim and B to shoot (When equiped with a gun you no longer lock onto enemies with B...). If you want to aim down the iron sight hold Z (...and when you're equiped with a gun the stun gun cannot be used).
-Use + to toggle the flashlight on or off.
-Like I said, I don't own a Wii, so this might not work. If possible, if you wanted to kick then click the nunchuck analog. A condemned game without the kick is unthinkable.
