List your favorite soundtrack (s) and why you love it I'd say: TMNT IV: Turtles in Time (SNES)- The game had a lot of really good music similar to Contra and other Konami titles. Super Mario RPG (SNES)- Yoko Shimamura and Nobuo Uetmatsu made this game so great. Final Fantasy sounding songs mixed in with the game made it my personal favorite. Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)- Beautiful orchestral tracks, the "Comet Observatory" theme influenced me to just learn more Mario songs on guitar. EDIT: Battletoads (NES) -Yes this game had a really fantastic soundtrack, not only did it make you want to kick ass, but you just felt like pumped playing the game.

I loved the music from Lost Odyssey. It potrayed the heroic mood of the game very well and that's probably the usual for Mr. Uematsu. Jesper Kyd outdone himself in the compositions in this game. From electronic to soft-sounding jazz, the entire feeling of a level expands with the music Kyd created.

The Shadow of the Colossus soundtrack. Nuff said Haha, I forgot to say WHY. The SotC soundtrack is full of brilliant instrumental scores that convey all of the wonderful emotions portrayed in the game. From desperation, and terror, to tranquility, love, and mystery, the soundtrack for Shadow of the Colossus is absolutely amazing and is sure to give fans nostalgic emotions and images of scaling giant beasts.

#1 would have to be Wind WakerI love this soundtrack so much, I think it's one of the best Legend of Zelda Soundtracks made. It sounds awesome and creative just to go along with the whole story and the shaded graphics. it brings out the inner Link in you Metal Gear SolidI've always loved metal gear solid music i don't know why. I just like the sneakiness and stealth sound to it. Super Smash Brothers Brawl.Love this so much, I don't have the game or the wii but I've heard and played this game at a friends house and I love hearing this soundtrack over and over again so I put it on my zune to listen to. Super Mario GalaxyI agree with you Arithaniel by saying this is one of the best mario soundtracks out there. So inspiring and creative it completely feels like your in outer space with this music in the background. It's fun and exciting and goes along with everything done in the game.

Storm Eagle track, pretty awesome. F-Zero, in particular the stage above, the Mute City track and all its iterations is the best Nintendo music I can think of... There was also that track in Ducktales.. the Moon level I think.

Okami has the best soundtrack I've ever heard in a game, or even a movie for that matter. It's very fitting for the game, but can still be enjoyed outside of that context, something I don't see very often in game OST's. Possibly the thing that I love most about it is that there are often two tracks for the outdoor areas, one with a few more instruments than the other. I've yet to really investigate whether or not both tracks are actually heard in-game... maybe it depends on if you've restored the guardian saplings. Favorite tracks would have to be "Shinshuu Plains I" and "Shinshuu Plains II." My next personal favorite would have to be the Super Smash Bros. Brawl soundtrack. It's a combination of some of my favorite tracks from good old games like Kid Icarus, Tetris, and Earthbound, as well as reimagined versions of those tracks! If they nailed one thing absolutely perfectly in Brawl, it was the music. Favorite tracks are "Yoshi's Story" and "Humoresque of a Little Dog (Earthbound)". A bit long-winded, but eh. I likes my musics! :P

Half-Life series
The Half-Life Series has always impressed me with it's soundtrack. It's not one I'd think I'd listen to outside the game, but it really helps the mood in the game and is always superb. The music always cues in at the right time, the music always fits the situation, and for those reasons I have to say the Half-Life series gets a nod form me.

sorry to say, but i like the GTA soundtracks just because of the fact of all the different kinds of music in them and the number of tracks. Oh I forgot, most of the GTA soundtracks are pretty well done. They really capture the setting of time that the games take place, especially Vice City. Personally, though, I didn't like GTA 4's soundtrack

I used to listen to these tracks while playing Counter-Strike or any other FPS. But yes, the music was just awesome.

My favorites probably have to be:
Final Fantasy 10 Lost Odyssey Shadow of the Colossus Guild Wars
I think Jeremy Soule does an amazing job on the Guild Wars games.
