I've been thinking about buying a DS here for the past few days. I haven't really played a handheld system since back in 4th grade when the Gameboy Color was the one to have.
I was just wondering if the community of 4pp could give me their thoughts on the DS.

yeah I've been thinking of trying to get a ds this summer but am still undecided. I want one cause i havn't gotten a new system or anything in like 7 years, and because I wanna try out animal crossing and i LOVE touch screen'd things lol it interests me. I also wanna get a handheld for On-the-go use. Still... convince me more.

School is on the money with the GAF link. I kinda fell out of love with my DS as I really didn't have much time to play it since I changed jobs-- Now I work a graveyard shift and have plenty of time. The World Ends with You should be here in a day or so.
Its one great little system. Great battery life, plenty of quality titles to choose from that are really made for a handheld platform. Its tiny, so be sure you know that going in--its not like you have to squint to see anything, but its different screen real estate than say a PSP.
My most favorite feature is the clam-shell design and how its integrated into everything. Even in an action game like Mega Man, you close the clamshell-- the game is instantly paused, and the standby battery holds strong.

Still... convince me more. Okay! and kwanzaat I didn't know if ur playing a game u can just close the thing and it pauses that's awesome. Yup! Instant pausing for DS games when you flip it closed. The system goes into sleep mode so it won't kill your battery. But not for GBA games, which is understandable, since the actual GBA didn't do that. The battery is very, very nice in the DS Lite too. I'd estimate you could get 10+ hours of DS play or 20+ hours of GBA play from a full charge, though I couldn't give you a good estimate for the old DS. its not too small is it?? to be honest, I've never even touched a DS before. As for size, let's see what this cheap-o webcam will do... not the best, but it works. Regular DS: ClosedOpen NOTE: They aren't normally that limp... mine's been through a lot. But it still works perfectly fine! These things can take a beating.Compared to a PS2 game boxDS Lite: ClosedOpenThe Yoshi decals do not come with the DS, I bought them seperately for about $5, and my friend's girlfriend thought it could use more rainbows. Compared to a PS2 game boxThe Lite has much better color than the normal DS, as well as multiple strength settings for the backlight. The image is sharper, and the sound system is a bit better as well. But overall, they both have about the same graphics as an N64 game on some games. Other games aren't so blocky and are more cartoony looking. Those, in my opinion, look best on the DS. I'm actually having fun playing around with this cheap old webcam, it's much higher quality than I thought! Maybe tomorrow I'll make a video or two of some DS games I have, if y'all want.

It was really hard to try and make a video for most of my games, since I use a webcam with a small range for video, and have to hold a Rock Band mic up for audio. But it was fairly painless for Elite Beat Agents and Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan since they have a replay feature, allowing me to play at one time and record later. They're both rhythm-tapping games, which is actually a lot more fun than it may sound! Ouendan is a Japan-only game, but the DS is region-free, so even if you buy one in America you can still import the game if you like. www.yesasia.com/ is my personal favorite for importing games. Elite Beat Agents - YMCAI really don't know what else to say. Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan - Ready Steady GoI heard you like anime, PunchDrunk, so you should know this song. Enjoy!

SWEET! I'm gonna try and get one also for sure. I have made my decision mostly because I found out kingdom hearts is coming out for the ds which is awesome and because I got really bored the other day and realized if I got a ds I wouldn't get bored. Also you helped me by letting me see pictures and everything so thanks. I'll let you know if I get one, since Idk if my parents will let me get one or not which sucks but I'm pretty sure I will be able to so hopefully by this summer I'll have a nice ds to play

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET I asked my parents and at first they were iffy because they were saying that I'm wasting my money on stuff like this and later in life I will be happy that I didn't buy video games...............................but I already know that later in life I'm going to play video games so that doesn't make sense lol but I told them that I can play my friends online and talk to them and stuff since Im moving more than 1 thousand miles away and Lots of my friends have ds's and they don't use AIM or FACEBOOK or anything like that. So tonight they told me I could get it and I'm happy and I can't wait till next month cause thats when my birthday is and that's when I can get it hopefully. So I'll update you when I get it and I can have a party lol jk
