I need some help with my laptop, I was watching a broadcast and it blue screened then it shut down. When I start it up it fails some Media Test and says to insert the boot disk then hit any key. I waited for a while and hit enter repeatedly and it kept saying the same thing. Anyone know what to do? I dont wanna take it to a repair because they might go through my folders and see my frostwire and all my downloaded songs

First off, a repair shop isn't going to care that you have illegally downloaded crap.
Second, find your operating system's CD and put it in, then hit any key to continue.
The problem is that your computer lost its boot logs, so it doesn't know to do. You may need to reformat.

i asked someone and he said it cant even find the hard drive... yay... A wire may have come loose. Pop that bitch open and have a look. As for reformating without boot logs, go into the BIOS and tell it to partition the hard drive, if you ever get the hard drive to be found again. As for your friend saying it couldn't find the hard drive, what drove him to that conclusion? From the information you've given me, it seems like it reads the hard drive fine, it just can't boot.
