Because we are already in two other countries, in a recession, in the process of getting the new president into office, dealing with major problems with the southern border's drug trafficking, bailing out banks, refusing to bail out the automobile industry, and setting up for the new season of American Idol.

I mean Before now, we could have cleaned up in pakistan 3-4 years ago, and it might even have suspended the recession long enough for america to do something productive about it. usually after a war is when this country is in kickass mode, with lots of mooney, and respect from the rest of the world, WWII showed us that, we became the most powerful country in the world in 4 years, but thats because the world had a common enemy, and america had the allies, right now we're on our own, so even if we win this war we won't see any improvemnt in the country

Actually, officially we are on good terms with Pakistan.
So shouting accusations would really cause a ripple in the puddle.

we're on good terms with Pakistan, which is why Bin laden would be hiding there but obviously by now he'd have moved to a new locale, if he hasn't then he's retarded

Pakistan is nuclear-armed country. They could probably strike Israel if they wanted to (I'm not sure on this) but I do know for sure that they could strike India, a country that they have a "tense" relationship with (yes, understatement). And that's very bad given that India also has nuclear weapons. Basically, it's an area that we want to keep as stable as possible.
Moreover, us invading Pakistan because bin Laden is hiding their would be outrageous. Former President Musharraf was hardly sympathetic to terrorists. Indeed, the head of state nor the parliament have any formal ties to terrorist organizations. Now, with that said, it's true that Pakistan's intelligence community is at least sympathetic with al-Qaeda if not outright helping them. But that's just not enough of a relationship to justify a war (it's certainly not self-defense and the UN would not authorize it).
I don't know enough about economic issues to address that portion. My understanding is that WWII helped pull us out of the depression because it was basically a huge shock to the economy (i.e. lots of domestic fiscal spending). So for example, you had millions of factory jobs open up because so many people signed up/were drafted for WWII. But that's not the situation now. We rely on a military that is fairly small and made up of professionals. That means there are no "factory jobs" opening up. But that's just me talking out of my ass.

This seems like more of a question than a debate. If you're not informed and wondering why about something, go to the library. Read a book.
Are you suggesting that we should invade Pakistan simply to get Bin Laden, perhaps?
There's a substantial amount of evidence that would suggest, if alive, Bin Laden is hiding out in Pakistan. The border that Pakistan shares with Afghanistan is lined with the Hindu Kush mountain range, which is one of the least hospitable unmapped mountain ranges in the world. The border area is controlled by warlords who have been there for hundreds of years and some rarely make contact with the outside world. They know the mountains inside and out, not to mention the caves and tunnel systems that run through it. The warlords are untouchable by Pakistani government, great in number, and have huge respect for Bin Laden. If he is there, he's not going to be turned over.
What in Pakistan needed "cleaning up" 3 to 4 years ago? Yes, Pakistan has some problems, but 3 to 4 years ago is when America was getting its feed wet in Iraq. You can't suggest after invading and inhabiting one foreign country, and then recently another, we should pick a third?
And just because we were in kickass mode after WWII does not mean that every war is beneficial to a country's economy. The fact of the matter with WW2 is that America held out on joining the war. Europe was being torn apart and bombed, and America did nothing. It wasn't until Pearl Harbor that America decided to get off its ass and join the fight. Even then, the Normandy invasion was a good two to three years later. The reason America was a world superpower after the war was because we joined the game late. Everyone else was running low on everything until we came in as the cavalry with supplies and soldiers.
I have no idea what you're trying to state in the last post. That we should instate the draft because it will give people more jobs? As for stating that our army isn't professional, go tell it to someone who just got back from Iraq after a year's training, probably a years worth of touring, and probably is missing a limb. We have one of the most professional, if not the most professional, army in the world. There are sure as hell some cracks in it, but by no means is the American military a bunch of ragtag kids thrown together in groups, given guns and sent off as soon as they sign up.
