Regardless of what we think, you can never force a RELIGIOUS man(particularly christian/catholic) who is homophobic to marry two gay men. It really has nothing to do with the government, since our government is SUPPOSED to be secular and the Church can go do whatever the fuck it wants.

I have no personal issues with it. Legally it should be fine as to create a medium.....that way not to piss off those opposed to the religious aspects of it and allow the couples to get the legal benefits of marriage.

I believe, If you truly love someone and you are deeply compatible with them you should be able to have the same benifits as different sex marriages. Prop 8 got started because people witnessed things they were not used to......things that they have been taught is wrong. Thats just my opinion

I don't think it should be called marriage. That's between a man and a woman in my book.
It should be a civil union or whatever.

um, civil unions dont give anywhere near the benefits that marrage bring. thats why many have issues with civil unions. they want to have the same benifets as those who are married, or atleast have the important benifets.

Marriage is for anyone who wants to get married. The fact that people believe there SHOULD be a law saying so and so cannot get married destroys any credibility the United States of America has of being the "Land of the Free".

It's wrong to restrict a person's rights to marriage no matter who or what you are

I think i'm right in thinking Gay marriage is a bigger problem in america than here in Britain, (no offense meant btw) but i can't see any reason why same sex marriages shouldn't be allowed, as i see it the only difference between the relationships is the amount of penis's the couple have. 0,1,2
What is marriage other than the union of two people who love each other. Religion doesn't/shouldn't have to have anything to do with it, otherwise why are atheists allowed to get married.

this really shouldn't be considered a "civil rights issue" in the first place. the only reason it's considered that is because the government added some bonuses to married couples. it's really a religious issue. Marriage is a way of proposing your love to god, it has been that way for a LONG time, but the problem is, religions have some issues. they have restrictions on who can be in them. i say, if the religion doesn't like gays or lesbians, they shouldn't allow gay marriage. but if the religion DOES like gays or lesbians, by all means marry them. marriage is really a religious issue, not a civil rights movement

The only bonuses marriage brings are bonuses such as being legally wed, and giving your partner a say in your life, so that friends and parents who don't know you as well can overpower that say. "Marriage is a way of proposing your love to god." Honestly, you must be around 13 if you think that. That's not what marriage is about at all. Honestly, your logic is so groundless, it's almost not even worth the effort to seriously get into it.

I always grew up thinking that marriage is about proposing your love for each other, not to God. If a man loves a man or a woman loves a woman it should be no different than a man loving a woman. Just because there's different genital pairings than what is defined as 'normal' doesn't mean they shouldn't be allowed. Your human rights shouldn't be taken away because of a religious clash. If there is a God, there's much more important things for him to be bothered by than if gay people get married.

Well, recently i have taken an A.P. History Class, and have covered all of American history . One thing i have learned is that equality eventually gets spread to everybody, but it takes a while. I would say, about a good 30-60 years until gay marriages are legal. And arent marriages between gays reffered to as "Partnerships"?

It should be legal, and accepted. Period. And if you don't think so you must be stupid!
The petty arguments that are presented against this carry the same ludicrous backing as when people were against giving racial minorities equal rights. Especially the bit about it going against God. I lol'd.
The human race evolves, just like any other species, the idiots that cling to ancient rules like they're going to save Mankind need to hop in a fire.
