I got to agree the worst music I've ever listened to, besides Girls just want to have fun, is most of the rap out there. I like rock most of all of coarse, nothing can top it in my opinion. Techno is just so cool sometimes, and along with Techno trance, because it puts me in a trance O.o lol, And my 3rd favorite genre is definitely Japanese music, there's so much of it, and most of it sounds awesome (or cute ^_^) and as for death metal, only some bands actually have great music IMO

Punk would have to be my favorite type of music. Sure, it maybe kind of dead in today's age but three of the best, IMO, punk bands have released a new album in the past 2 years, these being NOFX, Pennywise, and Bad Religion. If you want proper punk, then listen to these guys, as well as the obviouse Sex Pistols and Ramones, stay clear of the wanna-be Greenday and others who are like them.

I could not decide on my favorite genre of music. It's a tie between indie and expiremental.

I pretty much listen to everything (including Spanish and Japanese music) except for commercial rap and country. First of all, I'm not going to write off rap as absolutely terrible and with no value at all, no matter how badly I want to. Without a doubt, all rap that is blared from the radios of rich white kids driving Hummers in the suburbs is terrible and serves only to make idiots of whoever likes it, but I'm certain that as with every other genre, there are obscure, unknown rap artists that are not only coherent, but the things that they rap about are probably a helluva lot more worthy of listening to than the rappers who actually get payed. I'm just saying, I don't like rap in general since I don't know any decent unknown artists. As for country... I don't know, I just don't like listening to someone with a Southern drawl, no offense to anyone who has an accent like that. It's just not to my taste

I listen to alot of genres but my favorites are -core genres such as Hardcore, breakcore, trancecore/freeform and experimental genres like braindance/artcore/IDM or whatever you call it. I do like jazz and grime which is similar to rap but much better IMO. Grime is a mix of many genres and is more about the mix of beats, notes and lyrics. It isn't like commercial rap is now where everything seems to demean women. I can't stand country because I find it too cheesy and I never cared for rock for some reason...

if i had eyes i'd roll them so hard they'd fall out of my sockets i didn't say it wasn't music, i said it was -barely- music, sure, early punk stuff like ramones and sex pistols have more originality and artistic merit then pop-punk vomit like greenday, but thats only a sliver of the genre that is actually remotely listenable to me I totally understand what you are saying, but there IS good punk out there, it's just pretty hard to find, since most has been morphed into Scene/Pop punk. Also, like most music, it just has to be in your taste, which may mean even the good modern day punk might not be to your liking, which is fine. And Punk isn't necessarily always a life style, it's more a state of mind, most punks I meet are just average people. Some dress the part, and some don't, it just depends on the person.

Ok I'm gonna say it right now, I hate people who dismiss a band for it's popularity.
Oh and really quick, instead of using the term "comercial" use "mainstream" it just sounds better.
Anyways, I can't stand people who won't listen to mainstream, but will listen to underground because... nobody listens to it(?!?). The reason mainstream artists are mainstream is because they've worked hard to earn the respect and loyalty of their fans. They didn't just emerge from the ground and started taking all your money.
And if you Underground artists truly are THAT good, they'll be mainstream soon enough. As much as you'd like to think that they're doing what they're doing to express themselves through music, and not for money, they'll accept a sponsorship from Coca-Cola the second they get it

Led Zepellin is mainstream (or used to be), are you telling me that their songs are shit? And I've already talked about how they had to be talented if they got all those nice little record deals.

Usually most bands that become mainstream I never like in the first place, then there are some exceptions. Like Bad Religion getting onto a big record label, many people said they were selling out, but they were just getting on to a new label, nothing really changed.
