I've been meaning to make a thread about the rules but I've been lazy. Wasn't sure where to post this so I'm going with General. If a mod believes this belongs elsewhere then by all means move it. Anyways, I make this thread for the sole purpose of improving on the rules. According to Azn, the last time the rules were updated was early December, roughly 6 months ago. I think it's about time the rules got updated and quite a few people agree with me. Some rules need to be added, some need to be improved upon, and maybe even some need to be removed. I'll start with what I think need to be added. Things like no "Time spam" or "Age spam" need to be added. Too many times people think everyone should know what their age is or what time it is for them. I also think the related-memes rule need to include specific memes, especially Chuck Norris. And the whole "fail" needs to be explained better, such as chatters should never say fail when referring to the broadcaster. Everyone feel free to give their opinions. Just no stupid opinions like "get rid of caps rule pls". 4ppwiki.wetpaint.com/page/The+Rules For reference.

Don't help the broadcasters play the game unless you have been designated to do so. Especially if you've never played the game (ugh, memories).

This is sort of an obvious one, but the amount of Chuck Norris jokes is not funny. It never has and it never will be.
I don't know if others are with me, but I'd like to see a no-go on those jokes. I know Nek mentioned it already, but I'm just adding my voice to the support of it. I think Chuck Norris jokes definitely need a mention in the rules... chatters just spam.
After the Siren broadcast, perhaps calling the bots should be a TO offence? Whilst the first time it happened it was sort of funny (Ven and the bot incident, rather then calling of it)... after that, the people spamming his name was just griefing the mods, to be honest.
I'll add any others if I think of them, otherwise I'd agree with what has already been said.
Edit: Gonna add a quick mention to the lag complainers. Just the people that type 'lag' and nothing else, thus wasting their slow mode. Pointless, annoying and can possibly stop people/broadcasters seeing useful info, or maybe stop intelligent discussion in chat, as hard as that can be to uphold.
2nd Edit: Perhaps it could be elaborated on what sort of spam is frowned upon?
Courtesy of pspawn ( I don't take credit for others ideas) an idea could also be to avoid asking questions that would generate a spam of answers? Such as "Where are you from?" and so on. Questions to which everyone can, or feels the need to answer. I know its common sense for some of us, but for the average chatter, I'm unsure. I know this would go under spam in the rules, and its been touched upon, but maybe it could be elaborated on, to make it that much clearer?

Rules were updated in march by school. 4ppwiki.wetpaint.com/page/The+Rules/historyAccording to this there weren't any major updates, basically just spell checks and better wording. Also, I don't want people to not post just cause what they think should be added was already said. The more people who agree, the better.

If a mod is not in the room, DO NOT POST A LINK. Ask a voiced member in the room, or not post it at all.
I find this one the most annoying. Whenever I'm home and there are no mods, the chatters spam links. I personally think they should just ask a voiced member if there are no mods present.

Whenever I'm home and there are no mods, the chatters spam links. I personally think they should just ask a voiced member if there are no mods present. im against this suggestion. voiced viewers should only have the ability to talk during slow mode. nothing else besides that. also, if a mod was unaware of that rule you suggested, there could be a massive misunderstanding and the mod may to or even ban the voiced viewer because of mini modding and such. plus people who get voiced are sometimes people who are just meant to help the guys out in certain games and thats all. plus if voiced viewers get more power, then people will spam to be voiced viewers even more then what is already the amount. i agree with the no chuck norris thing though maybe have that just be in broadcasts? when theres no broadcast and just peope hanging out and chatting with each other, i think certain rules should be lessened to an extent but that could cause problems for people who join during off hours and then are confused when suddenly certain rules have been modified. really, i just think certain rules shouldn't apply or are enforced as much when there is no broadcast. i do agree with the "lag" thing. however, i would like to say that i think some people should be a little more understanding about those who are experiencing lag. its not always that the persons computer is slow or the internet is slow for them, sometimes it really is jtv's fault. i just think that instead people should perhaps start saying "if you are experiencing lag, try going to the archives. you weren't be able to watch live but atleast you'll be able to watch the feed."

this has been said earlier here, but no repeated complaing of lag, and when one of the broadcasters asks a question, it should be answered, but after the first like 20 people answer, the next 200 shouldn't, so how turn that into a rule.

Mentioned this a wile back because some guy had a username similar to jam and was using the same bright green and he gave me permission to link the same time jam said something and i misread and thought jam gave me permission. So one that could be added is fake permission = TO or Ban. other than that i'm fine with the current rules, they work fine to those who bother to read them. I've also noticed the channel options when your setting up you get the option to add a short welcome message so when you enter the chat it pops up in the chat (only person just entering can see it so it doesn't spam the chat) maybe add a few of the most important rules on there if Brad etc.. are willing to do that part, at least that way new people or trolls won't have an excuse.

All of these are really good but we left out another big one: Don't. Feed. Trolls. (and bots)
there have been many a time where people will continuously talk to trolls and get mad from said troll. Not to mention like the incident from Friday when people were talking to the bot causing agitation for the rest of the viewers. Granted I will admit I've done it before. I've gotten annoyed with a troll and feed them what they wanted. But I think we need to just put a stop to it. It does nothing but cause drama and headache.
