The item in question is the "9.5 out of 10 -Play" Is this on all art? Did I just get a display case? I know there are a few who work in the retail side here so please let me know.

I'm confused on how they give it that with no actual references...unless "-play" is something i've never heard of...

Play is a magazine. Their site: www.playmagazine.com/But yeah, that is a permanent fixture on the boxart. But from Capcom's standpoint, with a game as good as Okami and its terribly poor sales figures....I don't blame them for trying to do anything to get buyers.

Yup he's right... It is part of the box. The funny thing is that there is a sticker that says "A" - 1up/EGM right over the play part. I guess they realized that Play gives way too many games A's. I sold several copies of it today though, in fact, almost sold out.

So I sent this email to Capcom.
"Hello,
I picked up Okami for the Wii yesterday and to my surprise there was a permanent circle with the inside reading "9.5 out of 10 -Play". This in my view is unacceptable. Okami is a game of art, and yet the art of the cover is marred by this outlandish circle and text. I would like to know why this was done and if I can receive a cover that does not feature this. Thank you."

That is very stupid, but sticker aside, I like that box art.

That sucks, I don't mind those sort of things on the film, but on the actual case?

The reply:
"Hello Ben,
This was done to give box perusing customers who may not know much about Okami, or who may be on the fence about buying it, an immediate sense that this game was highly rated and critically acclaimed.
As you may know, the original PSHAW version did not meet sales expectations in spite of getting several awards including Game Of The Year. The addition of the rating on the box is one small part of Capuchin’s goal to ensure the success of the Ii version of this outstanding game.
There are no boxes available without it."
Yeah, pretty much what I expected to hear. I could reply and complain about how they could of just put a sticker on and so on but meh, it won't do anything.

So apparently it gets worse... it turns out the background is a high resolution shot that was lifted from ign.com. Apparently there is an ign.com watermark somewhere on the cover. Holy ballz.

Here is a higher resolution of the shot I took. You can clearly see the IGN logo and letters "IGN". (Even with the color degradation of imageshack )
