uhm... I believe it was ImageReady that handles animations. It should have come with cs2. Thats all I know... i have no idea how to use it. I would recommend flash if you want to animate though. I heard ImageReady is shit.

"This is a brief video-tutorial I made to show others the very basics of creating animated gif image using Photoshop CS2 powered by Image Ready." Image Ready comes with photoshop. not all the time; it's a bundle [for instance, i didn't get it when i got cs3], but it's a completely different program then photoshop, all it's really doing is switching back and forth between programs.

Image Ready as a separate app was discontinued with CS3 (had been bundled with PS since around 6.0). But functions are still included with CS3. Also, he has CS2 not 3.

To help you get started, open photoshop make a new doc, click on the 'window' menu and select 'animation'. With that you should be able to figure out how to get the animated GIF working.

When you say you downloaded was this purchased from adobe or was it gained by more dodgy methods like bittorrent?, because about a year ago in film class at university i was talking with a photography professor and when i mentioned i had it he got all serious and asked if it was the real deal. it was, i bought the cs3 masterclass student edition with my student loan, i asked why he was buggy about it and hes had students in his class get it through dodgy means and a few months down the line got an email form adobe including a cease and desist order and a threat of pretty expensive legal action for theft. And companies like adobe and microsoft pay people just to track down cracked or illegal copies in use and the like for just such ramifications. so just saying, if you are using a dodgy copy id be very careful and if you could buy the proper version because it aint worth the risk for animated gif's.
