Okay, so far, JPNCast has mostly focused on anime, but I wanted to start a thread about J-Music. Here, I hope people can find and suggest new artists or just talk about the artists in general. Here are some of my favorites (in absolutely NO order at all): -YUKI (Yuki Isoya) -JUDY AND MARY -ZONE -RURUTIA -I WiSH -The Pillows -Bump of Chicken -ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION -ayaka (as in Iida Ayaka) -aiko (as in Yanai Aiko) -Aya Hirano -See-Saw -Rie Fu -Nami Tamaki -Mika Nakashima -Orange Range -Nana Kitade ...And many others, including, of course, all of those artists that I haven't mentioned who've done anime OPs and EDs like The Pillows, Orange Range, ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION, etc (L'Arc, HOME MADE KAZOKU, blah blah blah) So... those are some of my favorite Japanese artists, feel free to post yours, suggest some songs by artists already mentioned, or even to criticize (as long as nobody fights about it). Also, means to find suggested songs and artists are appreciated. Have fun PS: I suggest using this site if you want to find some of these artists bww2.com/ So far, I haven't found a WHOLE LOT here, but there are a lot of various and obscure artists, not only in Japanese, but in Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, etc.

I've been thinking about it for quite a while now, and... I really don't know how to respond, lol. I actually haven't heard any Yoki Ono songs, but I'm sure they'd be a little too old school for me.

I don't have the time to list all the J-rock I listen to at this moment, but my favorite is Dir en grey.

I've actually only heard of, The Pillows, Asian Kung-Fu Generation, Orange Range (great bass) and Dir en grey; however, I'll be sure to check out some of those other bands.
Heres a few favs of mine:
-12012 -AAA -An Cafe -Bis -Kagerou -Kra -LM.C -The GazettE -Uchuu Sentai NOIZ
(lol and Otakon)
-Daizy Stripper -JAM Project -MarBell -The Underneath
Haha, I like anything with good bass though. I really love the vocals with Marbell and the like synth with NOIZ. It's all good.

I'll be sure to check them out!

As you know, Orange Range was on my list, simply because of their crazy energy and upbeat music. Also, I want to try to suggest looking into the artist Iida Ayaka (her stage name is simply "ayaka"). She's got a GREAT voice that she not only uses for tough sounding bluesy songs, but she can be soft and sweet with it too. I'll give links to two good examples of the kinds of songs she's capable of. Here's "CLAP & LOVE": www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJ9tt1RVZ_EAnd here's a soft and kind song called "Mikazuki": www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYsuGM0tqtwI hope you enjoy them

I'm ashamed to say it, but all I've heard of Gackt are their songs from Dirge of Cerberus and all I've heard of LIA is her version of "doll" in Gunslinger Girl: Il Teatrino. I really should look into these two more, they're bound to be better than I know. EDIT: Forgot to say, Malice Mizer sounds badass, lol. I'll definitely check it out

Hey all, I've decided I would post a few music videos for some of my favorite artists. Here's RURUTIA, whom I found only recent. She's very mysterious as no one knows her real name or age, but her voice and style are very sweet and soothing. www.youtube.com/watch?v=MACh-XG6yeMNext is one of my favorite artists, YUKI (Yuki Isoya), who was a member of the band JUDY AND MARY. Her voice is often an acquired taste, as it is unlike any voice I've heard. Really, YUKI and her song JOY was the one who got me interested in J-Music. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ipbAcF1Dfo&feature=relatedFinally, there's aiko (Yanai Aiko) who's style and voice are sweet, upbeat, uplifting, and fun to listen to. She quickly became one of my favorite singers after hearing only a few of her songs. www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vvCeS5PP4YSo, that's all I'm doing for now. I don't wanna make my post into a spam fest . I hope all of you who see them enjoy the videos. Maybe I'll post more some other time. Let me know what you all think!

I've been getting into more Japanese music. I like some of the more well known stuff like Boris, Boredoms and then I guess Asobi Seksu kind of counts. Then I recently found Nisennenmondai, great stuff. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of bands to look into.

Then I recently found Nisennenmondai, great stuff. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of bands to look into. Sounds to me like you enjoy the hardcore stuff. Now unfortunately, I don't delve into this style very often, but I took the liberty of trying to find artists that I thought would fit in with the ones you mentioned. "Boom Boom Satellites" are, in my opinion, very good and their music simply pumps me up when I hear them. I found out about them from their song "Dive For You" which was in the Appleseed 2004 movie soundtrack. However, to distance them from this, I chose one of their other songs called "Push Eject" www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7C1nnR9DpU&feature=relatedI literally just found this band for the purpose of suggesting them to you, and honestly, they're a bit heavy for me, but maybe you'll like them. Plus, their band name is awesome. Here's HYBRID-ZOMBIEZ with their song "I Denshi" www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdtbK473TEo&feature=relatedAnd finally, while a little different than the artists I've already listed, I absolutely LOVE the artist YUKI, but before her solo career, she was part of a J-Rock band called JUDY AND MARY which has a lot great energy. This is their song "Brand New Wave Upper Ground" www.youtube.com/watch?v=9W6o7Zjl4zANow I don't know if any of these artists will appeal to you (though I hope they will), but if you have any questions, feel free to ask. And just in case none of the groups I listed resonate with you, I encourage you to visit this site to help you find artists that appeal to you: wiki.theppn.org/Main_PageHave fun

I havnt listened to J-Music in a LONG time. Like YEARS long.
I like Rip Slyme a lot. "I Could Have Danced All Night" probably being my favorite song, just cause of the sample they use.
