This was a big topic in chat today, thought ii'd make a post.
I prefer console if i can mainly because of the controller, i find the keyboard and mouse to be clunky, if not a mess, with some games.
What do you prefer and why?

I prefer either. some games the controller is really great, like fps and action oriented games. but then again on the mouse and keyboard some times it's just superior, (some fps games and rts) also it's mostly which one you have more experience with. i prefer fps games on the computer, others on console.

Console, I grew up with it and has just got a pc about a year ago. So I'm more attached to my consoles. Sure PC has extra storage space and you can download mods and such. But what I like about the console is the controller. I can never get used to using keyboard for gaming.

Pretty much every game on a PC has support for controllers you know?

Both.
I like relaxing on my couch with a controller in my hand, and I love the simplicity of consoles. But at the same time, I like the MUCH better online community for online games on the PC, the superior controlling a mouse and keyboard gives you for FPS games, and the shear amount of custimization you get with PCs, thanks to modding and such.
I'm also a huge Valve fanboy, and they're mainly a PC development team. All of their console ports simply pale in comparison to the PC games. The players on the PC are much better as well, when compared to the console players. They communicate much more with team mates, their strategies are much more practical, and their individual skill is again, much much better. The mouse definitely helps with this.
And again, I must stress how much better the online community is on PC games. When I'm playing XBLA, if I hear someone talking on their mic, it's 99% of the time a douchebag I don't want to listen to. You get your share amount of idiots on the PC, but the rates are consiterabley smaller.
But still, I cannot and will not choose between the two. Doing such would miss out on two different experiences that each bring their own merits.

PC. Mouse and keyboard is just superior to controllers in the games I play. I don't play that many games, all the ones I play are online and have a great replay value. TF2, Killing Floor, L4D, and it even excels in games like Guild Wars. The only place I can think about that it takes a hit is racing and fighting (which I don't have any of), and thats why I also have a PS2 gamepad. I'm not a big games-from-the-east fan, so the PC support from Japanese games being bad doesn't really bother me Like Chicken said, the online support is just sooo much better. Steam is great. And I'm also a Valve fanboy, Valve rules. And the fact that I can't afford $60 games all the time, and games like Bioshock that I'll never replay and have no online community, are basically free, so that's nice. I know the community here doesn't like that, but I just cannot afford games that'll sit on my shelf for years collecting dust. TF2 still gets played atleast every other day. The Orange Box was worth the $60. We PC gamers save the $60 and buy a new GPU. Which reminds me... You do not need to buy a new graphics card for every single new video game that comes out. I heard that several times in chat today, and those people don't know what they're talking about. Why would developers make each game for a different and newer GPU? It doesn't make sense. They aren't THAT expensive, it's probably more expensive to go buying $60 games every week. A new GPU is 180 (1GB 4870 is 180 and will last you 3-4 years probably; the way things are progressing these days, 2 years. If you're not worried about playing at high: 3 years) And one final note, you consolers know those things you call DLCs on the console? They're called PATCHES on the PC most of the time =P
I'm not completely anti-console. I'm probably buying a PS3 in the near future, which will drain my bank account. I should probably just update my PC, lol.

well since the pc has the most potential for graphics/storage/media/everything PC is much better, customization, online play and such.

Both. As many people have said before me, PC gaming is generally better due to better controls, a better community, modding, etc. However, I personally prefer playing on a console. It's much more relaxed and easier for my hands to deal with (I have poor fine motor skills and I find it much easier to use console controllers than a mouse and keyboard; I can always use a controller with a PC but I'm too lazy to do that it just doesn't feel right to me).
At the end of the day, most of my PC games are either PC exclusives or aren't on a console that I own and my console games are either console exclusives or are games that would play smoother on my console than my crappy PC. Both are great for their own reasons.
EDIT: I guess it sounds strange that I have difficulties with a keyboard but not a controller. It's easier for me to grip things and use my thumbs, I suppose.

Console. Cheaper (not game wise, but platform wise). Better starting controls (you don't have to work with them for an hour unlike PC). More games on the Console. Console is more reliable to run your games and you don't need to spend huge chunks of cash for a minor upgrade to play next-gene games.

Most of my memorable gaming experiences are on the PC, IE. Grim Fandango, American McGee's Alice, Giants : Citizen kabuto, Original Alien Vs. Predator.
Nowadays, console are my favs - PC's get costly to upgrade to accommodate newer games while the console is just built for it. So over all, I'd have to say consoles.

I do not agree that the controls are easier at all on consoles. It takes you an hour to get a hang of things? Are we talking about FPS games here? What's there to know?
wasd for move. c or ctrl to crouch. e to use. r to reload. primary click for primary fire secondary click for secondary fire and scroll for weapons.
Looks like a much better control setup than console FPS's.

Console is more reliable to run your games and you don't need to spend huge chunks of cash for a minor upgrade to play next-gene games. I never have spent more than 3 minutes reconfiguring controls. It's not hard. If you spend 3 hours doing it, there's either something wrong with the game or something wrong with you. =P I'm going to cut out part of your sentence. "you don't need to spend huge chunks of cash for a minor upgrade to play next-gen games." You're exactly right! You buy one good graphics card and you're good to go for a really long time. Mine is old as hell, about 2 years, and it's still playing TF2 and L4D just fine. Blood Money works fine, and COD4 runs good, even in multiplayer. Loads of games that're shipped on Xbox or PS3 also get shipped to the PC. Out of Brad's "New Love" laundry list, Assassins Creed, Hitman 2, Fallout 3: Point Lookout, Hitman Blood Money, Ghostbusters and Prototype, are all on the PC. The only ones that aren't are Skate, Klonoa, and Crackdown. I think the PC did pretty well. We didn't get inFamous though, sadly. Everything anti-PC you hear can be refuted. Everyone always pulls the "you need to upgrade" card, which isn't a big deal. Most people would probably get so much more out of a PC than a console.
