I dont understand why it should be illegal. I mean, and not to sound or try to be stupid, what are they going to do to me after I've committed suicide? You can't put me in jail if I'm dead, and if my family got in trouble for it that would be wrong. Families don't just let their kids kill themselves.

Suicide shouldn't be legal because, it is murder. Saying, "you have the right" is like saying you have the right to murder. Murder is murder, and legalizing it is pretty ridiculous. Also, by making it illegal, if the person survives, they can attend court-ordered psychiatric sessions to give that person the help they need. You can't do that if it is legal. MURDER –noun 1.Law. the killing of another human being under conditions specifically covered in law. In the U.S., special statutory definitions include murder committed with malice aforethought, characterized by deliberation or premeditation or occurring during the commission of another serious crime, as robbery or arson (first-degree murder), and murder by intent but without deliberation or premeditation (second-degree murder). i know its not much but murder is the act of taking anothers life. not your own. in this sense, taking your own life should be regarded as what it is, taking ownership of you life. a person is in control of their own life and because of that, if they wish to end it, then they have every right to. are you saying that a human can not be intitled to their own life? they should not have the right to take their own life away from themself if they wish to do so? at that point, can anyone say that they are in control of their life if they can't even end it themself? (rambling again) Now you're playing semantics. When I said murder, I meant killing a human being. As for being entitled for our own lives, we aren't. We live in a society. There are rules. We can't steal, mug, kill, blackmail, or rape anyone we please, despite being entitled to our own lives. If someone is going to commit suicide, no doubt they've been pushed to extremes. It takes a very troubled person to commit suicide. Which is why it doesn't matter if it's illegal if they succeed. Why I reject it's legalization is for those who survive. Like I said, if they live, they can be forced into psychiatric care, help them remove or at least help them deal with the problems that they had that pushed them to the edge. If suicide were legal, what would stop them from going a second round? The law wasn't made with the dead in mind, it was made for the living.

No. It won't even matter. You won't care or deal with the penalties of it once you're dead. I think that point has already been stated.
I think it is selfish to take your own life but I don't think it is wrong as long as you do not hurt other people in the process, yet suicide will always damage the people that love the person who commits suicide... I consider suicide is an easy solution for peoples' problems (though not something that's easy to go through with) and that people throw the word around too easily. There have been stressful points in my life, such as when I'm working on a project and think it won't be finished and something goes wrong with the program I feel like screaming things I don't mean but honestly, I think it's worth the hard work to stay alive.

No, it shouldn't be illegal. That would be pretty dumb. And before someone freaks out and assumes I have no soul, know this: 1. Laws are void once you're dead. Duh. 2. You should have control over your own life, if you want to end it and leave all of your loved ones in pain and questioning themselves as well as their beliefs, then you should be able to. Some people see it as cheating life. (Which is pretty dumb.) Take Hitler for example. He refused to be killed, because he didn't want to go down in History as a person that got caught, he cheated. (Damn him.) So he killed himself before we could get to him. (Mind you I'm a little fuzzy History wise, so that may not be completely accurate. Darn summertime fries my brain. O.o) And I also think if you kill yourself, you're just being weak. Everyone has problems, no one is exempt, and if we can get through it, they should be able to also. As for being entitled for our own lives, we aren't. We live in a society. There are rules. We can't steal, mug, kill, blackmail, or rape anyone we please, despite being entitled to our own lives. Sure we can, but we'd be breaking laws, which I see happening on the news almost every day. Just because it's a law, or it's not right in society's eyes, doesn't mean we can't do it. It all comes down to you and what decision you make. Why do you think we have robbers, muggers, killers and rapists? Because that's the path they chose to take. EVEN IF they had a troubled childhood, blah, blah, blah.. THEY were the ones that decided to wallow in their own pity, not society, and not the laws.

It should be illegal since family members and other friends and relatives may be upset if a family member committed suicide (God help the people who wouldn't be upset) But the individual should be put in a hospital of some sort to prevent a suicide. I have a relative who has committed suicide. I've never met him but his mom and dad were ( I imagine) devastated about it. I believe people shouldn't do that but it may not be preventable.
