I've been thinking off making this thread for a while now, Should the right to commit suicide be illegal? Is it wrong to take your own life into your own hands?

No one should have to be driven so far as to end their own life, but it obviously does happen.
I've lost two good friends this way.

But are there actually laws against it? What could they do, fine you?
Maybe negation of life insurance would make more sense...

I guess I'm not entirely sure what you're asking, do you mean we should have some readily available Dr. Kavorkians, or..?

How are we going to make suicide illegal? What difference is it going to make when the person has already taken their life? Are you going to arrest the parents after their gone for their choice? Suicide is never a good thing. People take their lives usually because the either
1. They can't cope with what's happennig around them.
2. Bad things have happened in the past to them. Wether their parents beat them, abused them, Kids tortured them. they weren't liked.
3. They don't like who they are.
That's just a few reasons and I've been told that suicide is not an option and it's not an answer worth taking. I've had a family member and a friend commit suicide.

You can try your best to help someone who is in need. But you must understand that that person has to help themselves first before you can help them. Otherwise anything that you do or say to help will probably be useless.


Btw, Bush, Rape is another reason why people commit suicide.

okay, maybe i should rephrase, since suicide is illegal or something like that since the police can intervene and send you to a psych hospital.
Then how about this, is suicide wrong? or should you never be able to make that choice for yourself? is there ever a time where it could be prevalent?

suicide is only for the weak of heart who aren't able to except life for what it is. granted there are exceptions where life itself is actually worse then death but killing ones self over what a kid called them or because they got a bad grade in school is pretty pathetic.

however, if we want to get into legal issues, suicide should be perfectly legal. if someone wants to kill themself, then they have that right to kill themself. it is their lfie after all and thats the one thing that no one else can own or take from you, as in they gain something from your lost.
as long as the suicide itself doesn't cause others any real harm, then there shouldn't be too much problem. however, if one wishes to kill themself, they should at least write up a will or something. atleast have it where once they are long past dead, the family and friends don't bicker over whats left. this is even more apparant for mothers and father who wish to do so. if your gonna end your life, atleast write what should be done about your children. stay with family or whatever.

now in terms of insurance and all that stuff, the family of the one that killed themself should never be entitled to any money from the insurance company. if that were true, then many people would kill themselve in order to give their family a better life and in that regard, would be sacrificing themself for a better future for others and that would just make the insurance companies lose money and just ruin it for those who are still living.

basically, if your gonna kill yourself, go ahead and do so, if your a parent and wanna kill yourself, atleast make sure your kids can have a descent life. don't drag them down just cause you didn't bother to think ahead. or atleast kill yourself once they are at a point in their life where they can accept your death.

Sorry, you've made that mistake more than once. Accept =/= except.

Suicide shouldn't be legal because, it is murder. Saying, "you have the right" is like saying you have the right to murder. Murder is murder, and legalizing it is pretty ridiculous. Also, by making it illegal, if the person survives, they can attend court-ordered psychiatric sessions to give that person the help they need. You can't do that if it is legal.

I always thought that it was silly that suicide is illegal. People don't get jail time for failures of attempted suicide, and there isn't much that can be done to them if it's successful. In the end, the only thing that a person can truly own is their own life, so they can choose how to live it.

However, to me, people who commit suicide are the most selfish people out there. With help from their friends and family, people who love and care for them, they dare throw that gratitude and care for them out the window. Suicide is still a major problem, and the people do need help, but the change has to come within. If the people don't change, no progress will ever be made.

i know its not much but murder is the act of taking anothers life. not your own. in this sense, taking your own life should be regarded as what it is, taking ownership of you life. a person is in control of their own life and because of that, if they wish to end it, then they have every right to.

are you saying that a human can not be intitled to their own life? they should not have the right to take their own life away from themself if they wish to do so? at that point, can anyone say that they are in control of their life if they can't even end it themself?
