One week until registration is over. I've noticed that some of the people who entered have only been active last since they posted their code, which worries me because I fear they might not return. It'd be nice to see some of those people be more active in the forum, so I'd know they are still around. You can at least count on me. I'm checking up on this thread regularly. I just browse the forums like I do chat... without saying much the majority of the time.

I would like to make some suggestions as someone who has had extensive tournament experience:
After registration ends on the 13th, give everyone a day or two at least to check in. Change the OP so people know to post again or mass PM everyone who signed up. That way you weed out some of the no-shows that tend to happen when you have early signups which can save a lot of time.
Once the bracket is posted, everyone has 7 days to complete their round 1 match. The next round can begin as soon as the last is done, so its not absolutely necessary to wait the entire 7 days. This avoids a lot of unnecessary disqualifications due to schedule conflicts or Nintendo's system not recognizing that both people have put in each others numbers right away.
- For 4 lives, there should be a 7 minute timer on top, to prevent excessive stalling. - Finals should be 3 out of 5 matches, rather than 2 out of 3. - The winner should be the one responsible for reporting match results, since they have the most to lose.
The stages available for picking should be listed ahead of time. In an in-person tournament, the first match is played on one of a small set of neutral/safe stages, then from that point, the loser picks the stage, and some less safe counterpick stages are opened up.
Having to communicate between matches is gonna be an added hassle, since theres no chat function in game. Some options to bypass that, which also avoids player conflicts on stage selection: 1) Both players should have it set to random among X stages. 2) Each match is played on a particular stage. For instance, everyone plays match 1 on Smashville, match 2 on Yoshi's Island, and match 3 (if necessary) on Final Destination.
Neutral Stages (suggestions): Battlefield, Yoshi's Island, Smashville, Final Destination
Some Counterpicks (if you want to) Castle Siege, Delfino Plaza, Halberd, Lylat Cruise, Frigate Orpheon, Brinstar, Rainbow Cruise

I do agree with counterpicks and neutrals, but IMO, time limits are silly. Lets things run themselves out. No need to rush.

I'll try the mass PM/email system to contact those people. Hopefully they should see in their inbox.
The time limit seems rather unnecessary as the matches probably won't even last that long and just puts too much pressure. And apparently people can't send me replays if it's under a time limit. I rather prefer the loser of the match to report the results because just anyone could say "I won the match". Doesn't seem very safe to do. Making it 3 out of 5 seems making the match only longer and unnecessary unless by some miracle, the other player makes a huge comeback, but I really doubt that.
I will try that stage selection system, seeing as it doesn't give an advantage over either player. I rather not have stages that can affect the match like Brinstar.

It'd be nice to see some of those people be more active in the forum, so I'd know they are still around. you could maybe add a post count clause: basically people who want to enter have to post in this thread a certain amount of times a week ( maybe 3 ) it would maybe cluster up the thread but it would let you know who is active
