Anyone seen it yet? Are you a Trekkie? My parents are/were Trekkies. Apparently they came really closing to dressing up for their conventions. *shudder* XD I mean, I'm a Trekkie too but that might be a little over kill. Anyways I was totally expecting the new movie to suck and not be anything like the originals... Man, was I wrong. I just saw it today and plan on seeing it a second time on Monday. It was super awesome. I gotta hand it to JJ Abrams. He really knows how to create amazing stuff. And Karl Urban was effing amazing at playing Bones.

My uncle's are huge star trek fans.. and yeah, i laugh at those people too, but i can see where they are coming from and accept it. XD I know i would dress up as batman or something. movie is amazing, i agree. Best movie of the year so far. My only problem was the finding of a certain somebody on the planet. I overlooked it, but it's still there. ... and maybe the only Miscast in the film was Winona Ryder. lol I don't know much about the star trek universe, and i enjoyed the shit out of this movie.

Completely fucking loved it. My dad is a fucking huge Trekkie, and has shared some of that with me. I love JJ Abrams to death, so I probably would have liked this anyway, but damn. Good going, best summer movie since the first Pirates came out, I'd say.
Going to see it again today.

I loved Star Trek and I used to hate it. I always thought it looked really stupid but this was a REALLY good movie. It's gonna be the best movie of the summer, if not the year. That one movie made me believe that Star Trek >> Star Wars.
Edit: but what's with Kirk's face on the posters and stuff. It's almost too symmetrical, you know what I'm saying.

i really liked it. i was never a star trek guy (or a starwars guy for that matter) but i liked the new breath of light it gave to the series. everyone felt like the belonged though some of the dialouge was a little questionable at times though i was informed most of the questionable dialouge were refferences to the series so i can't complain about little fanservice stuff like that. id give it a 5/5. a must see.

Yeah I heard my uncle say that you didn't need to be a Trekkie to like this film. I was going to see it yesterday but I wasn't feeling to good at the time.

I saw it, and I liked it a lot. The ending was also great. The only thing I would want to change is how much camera motion there was. I mean, if there are going to be fist fights with close-ups, then I miss a lot of stuff with the camera rocking about.

It worked so well because it was so well-balanced - Trekkie-heavy, yet with enough emotional draw that a general movie-goer would like and absorb.
I wasn't ready to compare it to BSG as a space opera because they're apples and oranges, but I can say that it pleased me just as much as BSG first did.

First: They prefer the term "Trekker".
Second: The movie was brilliant. The only problem I saw was with how everything seemed to fall into place so perfectly. It kind of irked me.
Other than that, really really enjoyed it. I'm a pretty big fan of Star Trek, having grown up watching TNG and Voyager. My mom is a fan too, and I highly recommended she go watch it in theaters.

I saw it on IMAX the other day. Great opening.
I've never seen an episode, but I have general knowledge, and I still enjoyed the movie.

I saw it 7 times already, I can't get enough of that great movie! It is already # 1 Movie of the Year I think. I was expecting it to be that when I saw the first trailer, it looked good, I guess my guess was correct.
