Think the description of characters is low? I guess he does leave a lot to the imagination and your own ideas in the first book. Just read the... oh lets see... 11 or so short stories based in the Enderverse then the8 other books based on Ender, his brother and Bean. I wouldn't hesitate in saying this is the best series i have ever read. I hope you enjoy the sequels unlike most people i know. It seems as if most people only like ender as a kid, once he is in his fifties people are like. BORING! I disagree, only gets more interesting. People I knew that even read the series commonly hated the sequels. I really don't see why people talk about how terrible they were. I mentioned not liking them in my previous post, but let me clarify. Now that I think about it, I really didn't hate them, but I guess I didn't share the same experience as with Enders Game. Now, it really has nothing to do with how Ender is old and isn't a prepubescent killing other prepubescents anymore. I can't really explain why I didn't like them as much, but I think it had something to do with the atmosphere. Maybe I'll try to read them again and see if I appreciate them more. I did like the author's way of writing though. A lot of things were left to be imagined in your mind, and it worked well. There was nothing you couldn't picture by yourself. I enjoyed that very much. This brings attention to the film they are making. I think making a movie of this would ruin the experience. Forcing someone to accept how one person pictured the book just ruins the whole "thing" about the book. I found this to be sort of true about Harry Potter movies too; I liked the way I had pictured them better than what they perceived it to be in the movie.

I read maybe over half of this in middle school. I really liked the book, but at that point of my life, the only time I ever finished a book is when it was Harry Potter, or if I had to finish the book for school. I'm getting better about finishing books now, but I'm still just as bad. For some reason I think that I don't have enough time to read, which really sucks because I love literature and I love writing, but I always end up spending most of my free time playing video games and not reading.
Oh well. Anyway, I do remember loving the Sci Fi elements of the story. I loved how war was basically a complicated video game. Sounds a lot better than real war... even though if this were to be true, we would constantly fight our wars like World War II!

I am reading Ender's Shadow and I am finding it as a chore to just pick up and read it. Maybe it will pick up but, I like a book that can grab my attention in the first paragraph or chapter. I might just put it down and continue reading Ted Dekker or Brian Jacques.
Author's must remember that they are competing with television screens and video games.

"I've watched through his eyes, I've heard through his ears, and I'm telling you he's the one."
One of the greatest first lines in any novel. Like a moth to the flame.

When they revealed ender's "teacher" i literally hopped up out of bed and said, "no f'ing way!"

Teehee. Time dilation.
But yeah, the twist was easy to see once he got to Command School, but when I first thought of it, I was like, "No way." And then Card was like, "Yep."

Amazing book, I must say. I read it last year for English and I was quite surprised that my school actually gave us something decent to read. I'm reading something by the same author right now which is pretty epic called Magic Street. Strange plot but getting more and more interesting.

Magic Street was alright. I was asked to read Empire, which was fantastic.

Yea, I loved Ender's Game, but Xenocide is definitely my favourite of the series. Also, really love Card's Memory of Earth series.
