What you are about to read contains serious business from a 14 year old Grammar Nazi, so let's throw in something random: OMG A 14 YEAR OLD WITH AN OPINION LOLOLOL!!!!!one! Also, I'm typing this while wearing my Guy Fawkes mask! Silly talk aside, I've been with you wonderful guys and gals for a while and what I see in 4PP's chat makes me come to a realization: We as an English speaking people have bastardized (correct term, yes?) our own language. Nowadays, people apply internet acronyms in real life, like how those damn cheerleaders use "BFF" or "TTYL" while talking amongst one another. A long time ago on the television, which I believe was a primitive form of broadcasting various types of media before the creation of the "internets", you would see sentences with no errors, save a minor typo or two. In the internet's early years, very few of these now overused acronyms existed. Jump ahead a few years later and you see chat rooms flooded with "LOL", "OMGWTFBBQ", "ROFLCOPTER", "PWNED", "IN SOVIET RUSSIA....", "PLAY FATAL FRAME!!!" and "POST TITS OR GTFO" to name a few. What saddens me is that finding a legitimate paragraph of intellectual talk on 4PP chat is like trying to find Jesus. What's even worse is that using acronyms are now deemed acceptable when we talk to each other online. In reality, one can be a relatively smart person, yet on the internet, they seem like 5 year old children drinking one too many Monster energy drinks. I'm not a person who doesn't blurt out occasional "LOL" or "HARLEQUIN ICHTHYOSIS FETUS ROFL", but what I usually see in chat is unacceptable. For example, when Brad screams like a pansy or if he dies in a game in such a way that it's humourous (Canadian spelling, deal with it), practically everybody in chat needs to post a "LOL" or a "PWNED". Hell, I've even seen "PWNED LOL". Now, I don't expect people to use proper grammar all of the time, but our language is slowly dying. To put it bluntly, we're raping the English language. Well, I'm just a 14 year old Canadian dude with a computer, so I doubt that I can change anything, but this is just my opinion. That is the end of my rant and thanks for reading! Love y'all. No, not in that way. -Alex aka Vindicator Any of you willing to add on to what I said or discuss this topic?

welcome to the internet but I do agree, it does sometimes give me the sense that people don't know how to carry on an intelligent conversation anymore at least on the internet. That;s my thoughts though.

That's why it's fun being a Grammar Nazi, we get to use the classic line "ENGLISH MOTHER F**KER, DO YOU SPEAK IT?!?!". Sadly, we can't use force to get people to type actual words.

I understand your pain, but it's a chatroom. What do you expect from a chatroom? Misspelled words in a forum is unacceptable but it can be ignored in chatrooms. As for the "LOL PWNED" stuff, it's all fun.

Give it a few decades and soon there'll be young gangs yelling, "Double you tee eff?! Oh em gee lawl that shit was epic. The way you pawned that noob was rofflemoe." Where's Jules when you need him?

Expecting proper grammar and spelling on the internet? No, dude - not going to happen.
Me? I type like this all the time, whether it be forums, AIM, or even texting with my primitive cell phone. Seeing otherwise from myself makes me feel... awkward.
Then again, I suppose it's mainly become a habit because of my writing hobby.

I doubt we will see decent grammar in chat rooms, ever. However in forums, decent grammar is a must. If you see "LOL HAI GUIS I R STARTED A THREAD ABUT UR EXPUCTATIONZ ON DIS GAEM" in a forum you probably wont take him seriously and a mod will most likely delete that thread.

It's faster than typing "By Jove my dear friends that was quite the humorous situation our dear host has found himself in."

Well put, but the problem is, your paragraph needs a space in the middle. Walls of text are really hard to read.
