Zo, Las Vegas, NV (Zobocopy on JTV)
Having played the previous installments of the series, did you find some of the game play elements force to appease old school fans? For example: Collecting all of the pieces to open the door in the marshy area where you drive the boat around?
Also, what did you think of some of the other added elements like the implementation of a cover system? Being as I am about half way through (I think) a co-op the game and I think I've only used it once.
Did you guys have any thoughts on some of the the somewhat reused enemy types? For example: The chainsaw dudes, dynamite throwers, and flaming crossbow guys. Not saying that they are bad by any means, but just wanted to know your thoughts.

This game just seems ripe for baseless complaints.
-They accuse it of being RE4 with ungraded graphics, but say nothing about RE2,RE3,and Code Veronica being the same as the first RE. -They complain when you can't move and shoot (which would make it more Gears Of War-like) and then accuse the game of copying Gears Of War when the zombies with guns show up. -They complain about the length of the game when the original games could be beaten in about 2 hours. -They complain about the lack of slow, lumbering zombies from the original game, and use it as the basis for it "not being a horror game anymore" but ignore all the other creatures in the game as if their presence doesn't add to the horror element in any way. There are plenty of horror games with NO zombies.
The game isn't flawless, but it's beautifully done, sticks to the mythology of the series, and overall it's fun, which some gamers seem to forget is the most important quality for a game to have.

Resident Evil 5 has been the most anticipated game for me and after playing about 4 hours of the game i actually don't feel let down in any way
Is there any particular flaws in RE5 that you guys have come across?
I for one think this game has a beautiful balance in gameplay, control style and enviroment
I'm eagerly awaiting to hear what you guys have to say Stoshie

Justin from Minnesota, Trastan on JTV.
Resident Evil 5, for various reasons, feels closer to the pre-RE4 titles than RE4 did for me, which is something that I didn't expect. The return of key storyline characters and the increased focus on monster battles (including my favorite classic RE monster, the Licker) helped this significantly. In addition, the more serious tone over RE4, (even if it's still in a B-movie styling), increased production values and amazing cutscenes, more deliberate pacing, and small control tweaks such as the ability to side-step help to further place this game, in my opinion, above RE4, and even competitors such as Dead Space. I had more fun in the boss battles, greatly enjoyed the storyline, and even found that classic Resident Evil creepiness to be present, even if not as much as the original games, certainly more than RE4. Heck, just the fact that Capcom was able to implement co-op so well that it actually makes the Resident Evil feel and gameplay better overall is a tremendous accomplishment. It's really gone to show me how overly critical (whiny?) game reviewers and players can be. RE5 deserves a good deal more accolades in my mind.
As far as a question goes, I'm most curious as to what you all think of RE5 as a whole, including the storyline, Mercenaries mode, replayability, and unlockables, primarily regarding package worth. The campaign took me a good thirteen hours in co-op on my first play through, and, with the myriad of goodies and unlockables to work toward, I have no issues justifying my $65. In as much as you know and have played the game, how do you all view the overall value?
On a related note, I highly recommend the hardcover strategy guide; it's easily the best one I've ever seen.

I played through the game and found it very well done with one problem. Single Player. I played through the game solo and every three seconds Sheva would be shooting me in the back wasting ammo, even when commanded to attack.
She also used herbs way too liberally, and I found myself resenting her for it.
I ended up just using her as a pack mule giving her only the taser, and ammo.
What do you think where some problems with the gameplay, and do you think that RE should continue with co-op gameplay?
I rented the game beat it and will not be buying because of my partners AI. I do wish the single player aspect was more enjoyable, but I spent most the time yelling "SHEVA you fucktard!", and that ruined the experience for me.

Rory, Ireland (again) Spoilers for about Ch. 5-2 onwards. Do you guys reckon it would've been cool if after fighting Jill, Sheva for whatever reason doesn't continue the mission, switching the action to Jill? I think it would have been an awesome bit of fan-service, mirroring the original game in the final instalment of the series. It would've given Jill a bit more to do as well seeing as her involvement in the game seemed rather token. That being said, I played as Sheva in co-op and I really did enjoy the character. Edit: Uhh... Brad, I just watched you and mord fight the Uroboros boss, screaming about what a damn fool you were for never reading documents and therefore the one about the satellite laser. But... you beat it more quickly with a pistol and shotgun than me and a mate did with the laser... You wouldn't be playing on Amateur difficulty now, would you?

Many games have a great build up but fail when it comes to the final boss. So my question is do you think the build up was well done and did the boss fulfill the build up.

well i have finished this game and it was actually really short. it really has changed from a Resident Evil game to an action game about shooting zombies. the co-op system is really nice and bringing back RE4 gameplay style is nice too. The AI is also very amazing and it knows what its doing. but the cover system is just bad. there is little difference between cover and out in the open. also the game is actually a real big challenge. i had trouble even when i switched the difficulty down to amateur. all in all i really like this game and i'm glad i bought it

I'm in chapter 6-1 as I type this (taking a break atm before we finish it up) but my impressions are pretty much what I expected for a co-op Resident Evil. Having a human partner really helps when facing the hordes of infected villagers or B.O.W's as you tread through each level. The limited inventory was good because it helped from making the game too easy, the AI could've used a little bit of work (Especially if you compare the chainsaw man from RE4 to RE5) but overall, it's a fun game in the end with amazing visuals and plenty of moments to keep players going until the games conclusion. Recommend it highly even if you can't move and shoot (Stop being spoiled and learn to adjust guys, Resident Evil's always been like that and that didn't ruin Re4 =P).

How do you feel about the lack of gory deaths in RE5 (watch the RE4 death montage if you haven't)? And do you think the reason Capcom didn't include any was because of the considerable amount of time it would of took to animate them for both characters, or because seeing Sheva die in horrendous ways would of been bit 'too much'?

Regarding the end of the game... in your opinion would the ending have been better if it occurred during the QTE on the plane, rather than the boss battle in the volcano?

I could write a book about my experiences and opinions with Resident Evil 5. But I'll just talk about a few things that interested me and a few that irked me.
1. When I first heard Resident Evil 5 would not have a typewriter system I was a little worried. But after spending time with the Chapter system I don't think I can go back. The Chapter system makes going back and experiencing my favorite moments much easier. I don't have to manage multiple saves and it makes the search for medallions, gold, and weapons much, much easier.
2. I was hoping they would expand Sheva's backstory a little more. They covered her motives in one cutscene, which left me a little disappointed with her character overall. I was also a little disappointed with Chris' and Sheva's platonic relationship. Guess I should expand on that but I'm running out of time. Damn my habitual procrastination.
