Lewis Thomas - The Fragile Species (this guy is a science author so nerdiness abounds, but he's my hero)
I don't read that many books from the same author, but I do have favorite poets such as T. S. Eliot and e.e. cummings.

I like James Patterson novels, and ONE of my favorite stories are the Maximum Ride books.

Did Dante write anything else other than the Divine Comedy? That guy was such a slacker. Only ONE work of canonical literature?
Also, another Nietzsche fan! Yay! Shiloh, if you are interested in some secondary writings on Nietzsche's work, Brian Leiter (Professor of Law and Philosophy at U. of Chicago) is a great resource. I'm too lazy to throw up a link. Just google his name. He writes mostly about Nietzsche's metaethical thoughts.
My favorite author? That's tough to say. Right now I'm reading Louis Menand's The Metaphysical Club. It's an intellectual history book that weaves together post Civil War American intellectuals. It's a crazy tale of disillusioned Union soldiers, budding scientists, whacky mathematicians, laizzes faire capitalism, and scientific racism. Seriously though Menand's a great writer and makes some difficult subjects not only accessible but truly gripping.
