lets see my dinner tonight was a bowl of spicy ramen... Im poor, blow me. Hey, don't knock the ramen. Add some sliced green onions, and it's a meal fit for a king. A king on a budget.

I actually wanted to make Ramen the other day. It's definitely the best when you're craving salty foods, and it's even better if you have some leftovers you can throw inside it, too. .. the only reason I didn't was 'cause I couldn't find the aisle with the Ramen and I was too hungry to keep looking. lmfao. I ended up cooking some egg noodles and adding half a can of Cream of Mushroom Soup. I ate on my own at like 11p so I decided not to go the fancy route. Maybe something exciting tonight, though.
Pally: Garlic cloves sounds delicious. I even had some and forgot about them! You genius. Doing that next time. I also like to use grated Parmesan cheese as breading, or as part of the breading. Somehow it's very good at making the skin nice and crispy. =) And you should definitely get that camera. lol

Last night for dinner I basically made pizza. Well, not really. I made a flat bread using whole wheat flour. While that was in the oven, I whipped up a quick tomato sauce, chopped some onions, and tore off a few pieces of fresh mozzarella. After the bread was done I topped as you would pizza (sauce, cheese, then the onions), stuck it under the broiler for a minute or two, then ate. It was quite good. What I really want to show you is my dinner tonight. It was at a restaurant called per se. I will let the pictures do the talking: www.flickr.com/photos/26042942@N05/3411355174/in/photostreamAnd for dessert: www.flickr.com/photos/26042942@N05/3410543869/in/photostreamI was in gustatory heaven for two hours.

Foie gras is pureed duck liver. The taste is hard to describe. It's very rich and very savory (intensely so). Yeah, it ain't cheap. While it's not something most people (including me) can eat every day, it's a delicious treat every once in a while.
I should note the rather cruel method of preparing foie gras. It typically involves force-feeding corn to a duck (or goose). Basically, you stick a tube down the duck's throat to feed it more than it wants to eat. This helps to enlarge the liver and make it rich and meaty.
However, I don't think this is any crueler than how most meat is produced. In the end, I make no defense for eating meat. I think the case against meat consumption is solid. Were I a better person, I would be a vegetarian. But so is life.

Delicious, Pally. I haven't made anything interesting in the last couple weeks and I've eaten out a lot, so I've got nothing to post. As soon as school ends and I'm back into summer, though, expect a ton of new recipes. =)

It's actually very filling. First, the fat content is absurd. Second, at fancy restaurants they always give you plenty of amouse bouches. For example, with that meal, we got a bit of soup, some fennel creme fraiche thing (it was very phallic), and a giant basket of house-baked bread and locally-made butter (the best butter I've ever had). Is it as filling as eating as eating 6 double cheeseburgers from McDonald's. No. But it tastes better and you don't feel like killing yourself afterwards.

I'm Romanian.. close to Hungary, does that count? My 3rd cake ever written Happy Birthday in romanian on it, for my cousin. My 4th cake with chocolate coating and Happy birthday written in french with cut-out banana pieces for my friend's birthday. The top and inside has a thin layer of "strawberry jam like" texture -- was trying to melt the butter in with the mixture.. so i put it in the microwave.. and it gave out smthing that tasted like jam Sushis made by my boyfriend..they're really good because he worked at Sushi shop before and learned tricks from there mmmm The cake at the bottom left is made by me. Here in Montreal they call it Buche de Noel (Christmass Log? ) It was a failure tho (my first time i managed to do a pretty good one but the second time, this time, it failed lol) I was supposed to make the other cakes.. but I got so discouraged by my failure that I decided to let them buy other already baked cakes

how do you close that?! Looks delicious though.
Don't know many people who like cream of mushroom soup... but I love it. And today for lunch instead of using an alfredo sauce or meat/spaghetti sauce, I used half a can of cream of mushroom soup on my noodles and mixed it up.
I have to say, it was delicious. I like it much more than alfredo sauce.
