Yeah, it's pretty much bullshit.
Now, I understand if it's a children-oriented website, or a place meant for civil discussion, but honestly, on sites like JTV where you have to be 13 to sign up, is it really necessary? I mean, 13 year olds shouldn't be cussing, but it's not like you need a censor. Especially in channels like FourPlayerPodcast, that broadcast M rated games daily that these kids shouldn't be watching anyway.
Granted, you can always lie to get into websites, but if you think you're mature enough to handle the contents of an 18+ site, I'm pretty sure you're not going to get all pissy about a censor.

I dont like being censored either but hey, sometimes we have to live with what we got right? Who really cares so much about the censor? I mean you will forget about it like a few seconds later.

i sort of understand where they are coming from with the censorship. dont want to get in trouble because people said things they shouldn't of. now i do think that racial words should be censored since you shouldn't even be saying them in the first place.

First off, Internet censorship is not just about censoring offensive words and content. Internet censorship allows the government to decide what should and shouldn't be on the Internet for you to view. That means if it goes against the terms they make up or they don't like it or think you shouldnt see it, they will censor it.
In my opinion it would be wrong to censor the Internet. The Internet is a free place where anyone can express their ideas and feelings no matter how offensive or crazy they may be. They still have a place where they can show the world of their ideals. The Internet is freedom of speech and we should have the right to express our feelings and beliefs no matter what they are.
The Government doesn't need to tell us how to live our lives, raise our children, what we are suppose to believe, what we are suppose to eat, that is not their place in my opinion. The Government is suppose to serve the people.
As far as children going to sites not for them, that is where parenting comes in. Whats wrong these days? do we need to government to protect and raise our kids because the parents can't do it?
Its like everyday we relay more on the government to keep us safe and tell us what to do. Also in the United States of America at least, it would be against the constitution to censor the Internet. We have something called freedom of speech. They already have been taking a bit of our other freedoms away and we don't need it to keep continuing because if it does soon we will have none left.

well, while you make a good point, it's for legal purposes. Let's say a kid goes onto JTV. It says 13+ correct? lets say the kid is 10. He learns a few bad words. His mom finds out the site is JTV. Let's say JTV didn't have the warning. JTV gets in trouble because they gave no warning of negatively influential content. That's why the internet has these kinds of ground rules.

Except, they still censor it because they don't want to be known as a site where people can freely curse and badmouth.

I am 13 and I feel that parents and adults believe that we are never going to see these things in our life. Now nudity and sexual things like that, I can understand why that would be censored. But language and violence, that decision should be up to the viewer of that content. All I'm saying is that, we can't be covered by a cloak of safety. There is a certain age that more mature things can be worked into kids' lives so that it doesn't effect the child mentally, which could be a problem.

I hate censorship with a passion. People should be able to voice their views and opinions without having some of their expressions censored to keep the media and bad parents happy. Keep in mind it's virtually the parents fault, if a kid is prone to learning bad language, don't let him surf the internet unsupurvised! And if the parent is worried, put on Parental Blocker or something! Censorship should go DOWN.
